Rhule to PSU / Dyl-Gone Raiola Schizo Panic Thread

Leavitt is the prototypical Rhule QB. He told you that himself two years ago

Accurate, gamer, and mobile enough to get a 1st on 3rd and 7.

There are probably 5 of those in the portal this year. Luke Altmeyer is one of those, Rocco Becht, etc. Not saying those guys will be available but thats the mold.

Lateef is closer to that than he is to Dylan
We chose Dylan over Leavitt too. Could’ve had Leavitt out of the portal but Dylan flipped.

Based on Leavitt's career at the time you make that decision 10 times out of 10. ASU was only the better option for him because he had a path to playing time. His body of work was a few games at MSU. Esp considering the context of dylans commitment

Doesn't mean the projection was wrong. It was actually spot on.

OK, to rephrase -

How many wins is he worth over the average P5 QB? I don't think its worth a premium in the millions of dollars
I don’t disagree. He’s been pretty good but still disappointing when we were sold generational QB play & get middle of the pack qb play. I just think it’s a little early to throw him to the side considering he’s still improving and Lateef threw 15 passes and 100 of his 200 passing yards were EJ running with the ball. TJ wins the next 2 though & I’d agree, it might be time to tell Dylan bye.

We were going to get Kyle McCord as well. I don't know if Leavitt would have came if McCord also showed up.
I forgot about McCord. Yeah we could’ve had either of them. McCord broke records at Cuse, Leavitt almost beat Texas in the playoff & Nebraska went 6-6 with a putrid offense 😭😭😭

Nobody is throwing him to the side. You have two parties rejecting him right now

1. prisoner of the moment taters (will always exist)

2. People who see the team on a spreadsheet (myself) and realize its moneyball. Dylan will be one of the 10 highest paid players in the country next year. If its here I don't think the team is that much better off for it. If he leaves the program feels the same way. Its the Nico/Tennessee issue. I would rather have 2nd year Lateef and spend an additional $2mm on the OL.

Edit - Like Nico, he's welcome to stay and accept what the team can pay him. If he was being tossed aside that wouldn't be an option. This year Dylan was one of the highest paid players in the country and we had seriously glaring holes that could have been filled by guys we got outbid for (future NFL starter Isaiah World)

I think this hits the nail on the head. DR has room to grow. So does Lateef. If and this is a big IF, Lateef plays well and we get at least 1 of the next two games. We will have a QB controversy going into the spring. If he struggles, which he very well may do. Then your looking at DR as your returning starter with very little debate.

I don’t believe we got outbid for World FYI

The chances that both Dylan and TJ stay (if TJ plays well enough to demand it) are so low that Rhule would basically have to pick one. Over half of Nebraska fans are ready for that to be Tj.

Also, I don’t agree that Dylan will be a top 10 paid player and especially not if he leaves.

There will be no Qb controversy. If TJ plays well enough, there is 0 chance they are both on the roster into the spring. With no spring portal, one of them will be gone.

Personally, I've never been able to fully embrace Dylan because I felt like he would eventually find a reason to leave and here we are (potentially).

I recently read or heard how Rhule said it rarely works out for legacy kids going to play at their parent's Alma Mater. I'm starting to think he's ready to move on as well.

give adrian this team and we are 11-1
you're thinking of the wrong Martinez

EDIT: I now realize I'm the 3rd person to say this in the past 5 minutes

Yeah unfortunately this is just a part of the new reality of college football. In a previous era, we would be saying "if Lateef wins 1-2 more games there should definitely be an open QB competition in the spring, Dylan vs. TJ, may the best man win, how exciting!"

But those days are over, you basically have to make your starter decision by the end of the previous season and then expect the other guy to leave.
