OT: Halloween movie recommendation…

I used to watch so many horror movies. IMO, these days horror movies are very hit and miss. A few have talked about Hereditary in this thread. I know I'm in the minority as many view Hereditary as one of the best ever. I think it's very over rated. Some of the newer horror movies I've liked are Weapons, Longlegs, Insidious, and Sinister. The first Insidious only, don't bother with any of the sequels. The first Sinister movie is a trip, like Insidious don't bother with the sequel, I saw Sinister when it first came out. I watched the final scene of the movie with my jaw dropped.

Three horror movies that really messed with me were The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Dead Silence and Devil. For Dead Silence and Devil I think part of what made these movies mess with me is that I watched each of these all by myself around 2 AM. I saw The Exorcism of Emily Rose in theatres and don't think I could ever watch it again. For a week after I saw that movie, I would wake up a few minutes after 3 AM. Every day for a week. I'd be so freaked out I'd have to get up and play video games until it was after 4 AM. I found out a few weeks after that the same thing happened to my buddy that I watched it with.

There's a lot of mindfuck movies out there that'll mess with you, but some of the lesser known ones are the best. Triangle is a very unknown B movie that is an absolute trip. The Autopsy of Jane Doe is wild.

If you don't mind reading subtitles check out Audition. Really messed up movie. Another great wild one if you don't mind reading subtitles is I Saw the Devil.

My favorites are older though. Here's my top 5, I'm putting years next to them because most have remakes or reimagining versions out there:

1. Halloween 1978
2. The Thing 1982
3. Re-Animator
4. Fright Night 1985
5. Poltergeist 1982
The Thing is one of my all time favorites. The original 1950s version isn't too bad either.

Classic for the olds. I remember watching with my grandpa back in the day. Every Sunday after the Lawrence Welk we would watch The Wonderful World of Disney.
