im completely OUT on Dylan

My concern is a lot of what we saw on Saturday was what Dylan struggled with a year ago. He is gun shy to throw against man defense. Teams can just man us up on the outside and bring 5 to 6 defenders on the pass rush and he is unwilling to take risk and give his wide receivers opportunities to make plays and one on one coverage. So instead, he just hold onto the ball and takes a sack and everybody freaks out and blames the offensive line.

Go back and watch the tape from a year ago and a lot of our losses when he struggled, what Michigan State is doing on Saturday was exactly what he couldn’t handle a year ago. We will probably see it a lot more now, especially with the weather turning and the wind is going to be a factor in Lincoln in the fall.

Dylan’s numbers against B1G competition:

4-7 record
240/365 2,427 passing yards 11 TD 11 INTs
57 rushes -148 yards 0 TDs

If he wasn’t a 5 star legacy, the majority of the fanbase would be calling for Lateef.

For comparison, here’s Adrian’s numbers in his first 11 conference games:

4-7 record
224/356 2,592 passing yards 17 TD 9 INT
156 rushes 718 yards 6 TDs

And let's not forget that was Martinez' best year and he never won more than 3 games in the B1G conference, including 1 win his senior year here before leaving.

i was there, the wind was not bad. definitley not an excuse for 15 passing yards at half.
Well...I was there, the wind was bad, from probably the worst direction it could be from, and we had one possession prior to 12:00 left in the second quarter.

Emmett's run in the 3rd and the last MSU Drive were the only scoring drives into the wind all day in a game with 65 points. The wind mattered.

Yet another chance to inform you - you're a fucking idiot.

Well, Adrian is an NFL quarterback, so

Not sure what ur trying to prove there. That Verduzco and Frost sucked?

And this season against the B1G?

1-1 (.500 quick math...)
70.8% Comp, 502 yards (251/game), 4 TD, 2 INT

If you think he looks the same or has the same issues from last year to this year, you are non-intelligent.

Most importantly - take Illinois 4th Qtr/OT last year vs Mich State this past weekend. He couldn't play football to finish the game, now he closed it out.

We dominated the 4th Quarter - Dylan had 125 with 1 TD in the 4th to finish out the game we were losing with 2 minutes to go in the 3rd.

It’s not unreasonable to question his play and if he’s the best guy for us to win going forward. I personally don’t think he should be benched, but it’s crazy people take so much offense when you criticize him.

Through these 5 games, I do think it’s completely unreasonable. If someone is calling for Lateef after these last 5 games, I don’t value their opinion as it relates to college football.

“I’m completely out on Dylan” is the title of this thread. That’s not criticism. That’s stupidity.

Question all you’d like, hell, nitpick all you’d like.

But also be realistic and frame it as such

But he juked some guys and played well in garbage time against Houston Christian and the 4th worst FBS team in the country.

Sooooo, now what do you think?

Not completely out on Dylan yet and definitely won't be calling him names. I have lost quite a bit of confidence even with understanding the shitty o-line play.

These next 3 games will be interesting now with enough film out for d-coordinators. There winnable games and if the offense sputters, not good for seasons end or offseason.

People calling for Lateef are crazy. I would like to see us add some more special packages in for Haarberg or Lateef on some read option stuff just to give defenses a look.

I do think the last two weeks have really exposed some weaknesses in his game that need to get fixed for us to win 8-9 games. His pocket presence is not good and he holds onto the ball way too long under blitz packages where a QB needs to be making quick decisions and getting the ball out. People want to gloss over this as strictly an oline problem when Dylan is culpable as well. There were multiple times Saturday he had people open and he just wouldn’t pull the trigger .
