And we don’t have the talent ND does. It’s ok to be objective as a fan.
It’s actually quite similar. In the national talent composite ND ranks 9th while we are 20th.

I’d argue the only position you can say for certain right now they have us beat at is RB. Now they have been developed more consistently than our team but Rhules track record gives me little reason to doubt this team will be good.

Agree, I hate how it seems like a necessity for us to make games ugly in the 2nd half instead of putting our foot on the gas when we get up a score. Not sure if it’s coaching or player mentality or what but I won’t be confident until I see them be able to take a TD lead in the second half and turn it into a 20+ point lead instead of letting the other team hang around. I will be sandy until I see this.

Next two weeks would be a good start, we could absolutely hang 60-70 on both Akron & Houston whatever but unfortunately I think we’re going to see UNI type games that don’t really help give the team an attitude boost.

Akron got beat 10-0 on their own field last night. I doubt we see anything competitive from them next Saturday night.

And Houston Christian is not even close to an FCS team from the Valley.

Neutral. It’s week 1.

^^^This exactly…the massive negativity surrounding this W is somewhat baffling to me.

DR 78% completion zero INT’s and two touchdowns: A+
Run Defense: D-
O-line play: B+
Run game: C+
Kicking game: A+
Team penalties: B-
Defensive quarterback pressure: neutral, as the game plan was simply to contain, and force their career 55% passer to beat us with his arm.

Bottom line, 1st game of the season, on the road, it’s a W…I’ll take it

The difference between 9 and 20 in recruiting is a lot bigger than the difference between 20 and 31.

I just want to state that we'd all feel a lot better and we beaten the piss out of Akron rather than played a tight game with Cincinnati, but this is a really good learning experience early in the season.

You’re not wrong.

I learned that I’m not really ready for B1G football yet.

Need to clean some things up on my end.

Ran out of ice. Ate and started drinking too early and damned near dozed off before kickoff. I’ll have to look at the film, but I think I pissed on toilet seat halfway through the third quarter.

Day by day.

I want to be negative, but 1-0 is 1-0. I think there are some glaring things we need to correct but I'll freak out more when we finally lose. That isn't happening for the next 2 weeks.

Its week 1 and you won a game you have lost a million different ways years prior. Thats progress.
But we badly miss Dowdell to spell EJ and Jeudy/RVP need to improve or we are going to get run on in b1g play. Nash and Ty were way better than even we realize, probably.

Not to say we don’t miss Nash and Ty but I just don’t see how they’re world beaters when Nash is what, a practice squad guy at the next level?

We could use a stout DT, but I really do think that’s leading us to wildly overvalue those two guys.

The thing that made Nash so good for us was that he was so big, strong, and physical that he ate up blocks and doubleteams in the run game so the LBs could fire into run gaps - we really needed that last night

Probably not a world beater i agree, but makes defensive execution easier and we need someone who can do that

Need to have the option: “Neutral…holding judgment, need to see more.”

Despite the people clamoring for it, there is nobody who watched the game who'd doesn't feel at least 1% better or 1% worse about the team than they did before the game. That's not how the human mind works.

"Neither" isn't a smart answer, it's just retarded cope

100%. I have been surprised and a little frustrated that Rhule hasn’t made significant cuts to the rFR and SO classes which each have 35 players. That is over 60% or the 105 and 80% of the 85 higher tier players. Maybe he will do it after this season? Pruning those classes and bringing in some more transfers at key positions like RB, DL would’ve really helped. The RB room is really weak. Our starter wasn’t recruited by his in state school and is standing next to our 5 star QB. It makes no sense aside from Rhule wants to build over the long haul and is kind of soft with cutting players. We mos def didn’t go big on NIL spending which may pay off over the long haul but even that isn’t for sure.

lol what? Notre dame lost to directional IL and made it to the championship game.
A truly award-winning retarded take
