SEC Bows to the B1G - 9 Conference Games

Adds 8 more guaranteed losses to the conference.

I don't doubt the CFP will continue to tweak the formula towards what helps the SEC, but I don't buy that the SoS more than offsets half of the marginal qualifiers having an extra loss.

We shall see.
No no no. This is four D chess by the SEC to get 9 bids every year into the 12 team playoff.

Each team will face every other SEC program at least once every two years.

This is a big change. Because of the eight-game schedule, divisions and protected rivalries, some SEC teams almost never played each other. Between 2011 and 2023 Alabama and South Carolina placed exactly once. Missouri has played Mississippi just twice since joining the SEC.

The end of the SEC’s run. This was like trying to negotiate a fair trade deal with China.

Actually a great analogy. (the China part) But it’s not the end of the SEC’s run by any means. It just means they are now on a level playing field. Everyone can pay players, everyone plays 9 conference games and everyone has to schedule at least 1 non-conference game against a P4 team.

SEC will still get 2-3 teams in a 12 team playoff. They just won’t be able to get 4-6 teams in like many delusional SEC fans believe they should. B1G and SEC will VERY difficult to navigate undefeated. Most years everyone will have a loss or two. At least that’s how I see it.

Non-biased Dawgs writer. Good intel.
Flabio, you might be the most observant brilliant poster on here. A bunch of posters were saying you were pretty much a dumb dumb. Did they click on the tweet and read? Nope. You did though. Absolutely brilliant. Shoot me your address in a DM and I'll mail you a chili slaw dog. You like onions? Mustard? Let me know.

The change in schedule strength calculations a few days ago was designed to force the SEC's hand. The formula change would have screwed them if they stayed at 8 conference games. Going to 9 doesn't give them an advantage under the new rule because everyone will factor that in when they schedule. The SOS rule levelled the playing field.
