Should Nebraska have an annual non-conference rivalry game?

I know that Cockeye does this with Cockeye St, but it is just such a bad idea to do in the B1G. We already play more conference game than everyone else, making our schedule even more difficult just doesn't seem like a very good idea...
I tend to agree

I wouldn’t mind beating the shit out of Colorado annually though

Absolutely would love to have an annual non-conference rivalry game.

Just don't want it against the same opponent every year.

I'd like to see an old Big 8 opponent on the schedule annually.

Should be able to get some of the away games in Kansas City.

Going forward games against current Big 12 opponents should get easier as the gap grows between the B1G/SEC and the rest of college football. Would like to see Missouri and Oklahoma in the rotation as well, even if they are tougher opponents. Big games are what the players come here for, let's schedule some.

I’d love to rotate home and homes with Colorado and Oklahoma so we play both twice every four years, in addition to another P4 OOC game with only one “buy game” on the schedule annually. I understand that’s pretty well impossible this day and age though as it would mean playing 11 P4 games every year.

I'd like to see that as well. It will soon be just a power 2, so maybe a couple of cupcakes during the Oklahoma years and we can add a real opponent during the Colorado years.

If B1G get there way on playoff Automatic Qualifiers we can schedule big nonconference games without worrying about playoffs. Hope it happens, big time nonconference games are fun. I'd sure prefer that over the bunch of at large crap that forces programs to schedule weak opponents to try and stay in the playoff hunt. Automatic qualifiers are better for regular season matchups.

We don’t have the roster (or recruiting momentum) to start talking about substituting a tune up game for a power whatever team that will go all out and throw the kitchen sink at us in OCC. We aren’t even first string elite and can’t afford the wear and tear or injury potential with a long B1G 9 game season.

I’d be fine playing them two or four times a decade. But I’m against locking down any single opponent in an annual game for our only power non-con game. I like variety.
