I realize Rhule is ultimately responsible, but when are the players not going to shit their pants in the 4th quarter against the likes of Illinois and Cock Eyes?

A lot of items in the article have been said already, but to me the players need to start stepping up in big moments.

Yeah, too many are quick to forget Rhule has easily lost himself 8 games these past 2 seasons. Pretty incredible. Need both players and Rhule to step up.

I don't disagree, but I suspect Holgorsen will fix that problem...until he leaves.
Wasn't that a reason why he brought on Phil Snow as well? To have another pair of eyes on clock management?

All I know for sure is that if we suck, it’s not my fault.

Win or lose, it’s always some combination of players and coaches.

How about we don’t suck and then we don’t have to blame it on anyone?

Some of the reactions in this thread come across like we didn’t just see a proactive staff and coordinator overhaul over the off season to fix the issues being addressed.

I kind of get it. We're more used to coaches keeping their staff together regardless of results and just hope things finally click. It's the definiton of insanity we've seen and commented about under Pelini and Frost. And that really feels like the norm for the program. Beyond Bo getting the DC gig in '03, proactive coordinator changes that successfully fix deficiencies are not something we're used to seeing as Nebraska fans. In every instance of it happening as well, it feels a bit more like a desperation move. Solich, Riley, and Frost all made staff overhauls with an asshat AD breathing down their neck and were all pinkslipped less than a year later.

I like the message Rhule is giving. The buck stops with him. He's made the staff changes he felt were necessary to take the proper steps and is trying to create an environment where the players can hopefully play loose and not feel like the outcome of the season rests entirely on their shoulders.

The results could still falter. I'm in a bit of a "show me" mindset with the team myself. But damn, it feels good to have two bonafide coordinators coordinating for a change (and a third doing SOMETHING with an Associate Head Coach title) instead of a staff directory that doubles as a minefield of gridiron liabilities.
