There will be more about the new punter, but I do not believe he is from Haileybury College. I believe he attended Carey Baptist Grammar School. Carey Baptist Grammar School and Haileybury College are two prominent, expensive independent schools in Melbourne, Australia. Both are highly regarded boarding schools. They are both members of the APS (Associated Public Schools of Victoria) and they both play in the same school league, but they are not related directly.

In Australia the terms "public school" and "college" have a meaning more like they do in England than in the US. Think Eton College in England - a prestigious secondary school with good academics that boards its student and is expensive. It's more like a New England Prep School than a US High School (my characterization).

Archie's season stats show he played for the Old Carey Grammarians against Haileybury. His profile also shows he played for the Kew Rovers when he was younger; Kew is one of Carey's campuses.

Here's a brochure aboutr the ASP - pretty fancy "public schools"

Perhaps a couple of you will be interested in this, the rest will read it and say, "Why did he write this?"

Yeah I never understood this gripe people have. Especially now that they're going to serve alcohol, which was really the only reason to leave and come back.
It's mainly that our stadium kind of sucks for this. In big parts of the stadium there isn't even a place to put a drink that isn't going to get spilled and the concourses are heavily packed.

It was nice to skip out to a tailgate just outside the stadium and get some food and drinks and watch some other games.

If they ever get to the point of having individual seats everywhere it becomes less of an issue.

There will be "59 points of sale" throughout the stadium/Stadium Drive for alcohol.

Stadium Drive? So they will be seeling beer outside the stadium, and I assume, letting people open carry it up and down that street?

Sounds like youre taking way too long to drink your beer.

Recruiting has really just ran right off the cliff into the ocean
this is what we had last year at this time

We got 9 more in June/July. Last year 45% of our OVs committed. We look like we'll probably have 30 or so OVs this year. Supposedly we want 14-15 guys.

We had six industry consensus 4 stars out of the 20 guys we took last year. We have 13 scheduled to visit (I excluded Mosley and also haven't counted Sone, who is likely to schedule)

I think the biggest difference from last year is that we are taking fewer guys, so it feels worse than it is. But we'll see.

Why we target and chase some of these extreme long shots is beyond me.

May is ending with multiple 4 and 5 star players rushing to secure their spot in Athens. All except the big dumb hillbilly that chose Miami? How are y’all finishing up?

And then they just get the new school to pay the buyout
This makes me wonder if we’ll see schools getting a portal player for cheap because his previous school still has an NIL deal to pay off? Much like we’re doing with Dana Holgerson.
