I dunno what would be better tbh. If you did straight single elim then you run the risk of one of your top 4 teams hurting their postseason chances by having a bad day.

This is at least a way to limit a team from playing 6 games in a weekend right before the playoffs

If I can find a positive in this stupid format its that we should have enough rest between the Mich st and Oregon games to have everyone available for both. Oregon on the other hand has to play back to back days so will at least be down one guy.
