I never thought Ajay would be a star. Miami's judgement isn't very impressive.

I am not sure what Nebraska fans find so attractive about Brown other than he is a Nebraska kid.

My argument isn’t as much that we need Brown as it is we need another back and he’s the only one I’ve heard of contact with.

He ran for about 1200 yards & 15 tds as a freshman.

Maybe it won't translate to B1G, but that is big boy production, especially for a frosh.

This is likely good for the settlement. She’ll make them fix a flaw. The settlement will be more robust.

Why are we acting like EJ is anything more than being an ok back? I’d offer Brown the same deal EJ’s on & tell them they’re splitting carries and I’d be surprised if Brown doesn’t end up being better. Unless Rhule is downplaying the freshman to keep one or both of them as a surprise & they’re actually really good, it seems like a terrible idea to go into the season with this RB room. We only have 1 dude who has played enough for fans to even have an opinion on and he’s been mediocre at best..

Except the offer Brown is getting from other schools is an order of magnitude more than what EJ makes.

Let’s walk thru how this is going because everyone seems to be arguing around each other rather than the scenario that is actually unfolding:

• The staff DOES want another RB
• However, They don’t want to upset the Apple cart unless it’s worth it
• Upsetting the Apple cart means we are paying someone more (open market always pays the kids more than internal pay increases… think job hopping) than anyone else when the player isn’t obviously better than what we have
• Brown is NOT the back that qualifies for obviously better, and he DOES command more in pay
• Therefore, unless we get a hometown discount, we won’t get him
• If we DO get a discount, we WILL take him

This really wasn't a tremendous portal year for RBs. Dowdell was ranked 15th best to enter the portal this year by On 3. Oregon signed the #1 RB in On 3's ratings, Makhi Hughes from Tulane. He's definitely a good back but probably cost a fortune. (On 3 ranks Brown 27th).

The morning news here in Phoenix just had a really nice piece on Ty Robinson. They were talking about the draft. Ty went to high school here. They had photos of him from high school but more of him from college.

Showed him in his Nebraska uniform and in games. Also had video of his combine run. Very complimentary of Ty and Nebraska. They interviewed Ty at end.

It's more about he hit 4.5 on the short shuttle. That's the golden number for big DL.. but yeah. he's a big culture fit in some places. Seattle/Detroit etc

I was literally just reading an article that had the Lions picking him the the 3rd. I would be beyond ecstatic if that happens. Seems like a perfect fit from all accounts - culture, need and style of play.

Transfer Portal Intel: Inside cash-fueled WR market​

Outside of the Nico Iamaleava sweepstakes, the spring transfer portal has been relatively quiet. But multiple teams have been looking to upgrade at the wide receiver position, despite a limited talent pool.

The output has been a cash-fueled wide receiver market for a small group of players. Miami landed a win on Thursday morning when former top-100 recruit Ny Carr decided to withdraw from the portal. But Syracuse’s Trebor Pena and BYU’s Keelan Marion have become two of the top names for a batch of wide receiver-hungry teams. Sources have said this spring’s wide receiver market ranges from $600,000 to $1.2 million.

“The wide receiver market is completely out of whack,” a source told On3 on Thursday morning.

Pena is coming off a Penn State visit, with Miami and UCLA also in the mix. Marion has visited Arizona State and will be at SMU on Thursday. Miami and Tennessee are also expected to land visits. Texas A&M wide receiver Micah Hudson continues to trend to Texas Tech. A return to Lubbock could be done by this weekend.

The wide receiver transfer portal is only taking shape, though. Georgia State’s Ted Hurst and UIW’s Roy Alexander are entering the portal, and several Power Four schools are going hard after the wideouts
