Official 2025 Nebraska Cardiac Beaver Slayers Baseball Thread - (17-20)

Agreed that it’s a single if he’s being held on. Then Stone comes up and gets a clear double and it very well could have scored a man from first.

But I have a tough time faulting a guy for taking second when he was in there with quite a bit of time and he slides off the bag for a split second.

But that’s one where we can disagree and neither of us are “wrong.” We just disagree on it.

Where I vehemently disagree is benching a guy for the rest of the weekend because of this.
I did say in the first sentence of my post that I was overreacting. Veteran players can’t be making decisions like that though, especially with how many baserunning mistakes they’ve already made this year.

What mistake was made? Sliding 2 inches past the bag?

The dude hit the ball and legged out a hustle double and he slid 2 fuckin inches past the bag. NW’s hit to pull ahead was frustrating and the 3 outs we had in the 9th were also frustrating. This isn’t an obvious mistake anyone made that should have gotten anyone yelled at.

The 9th inning last night was a case of baseball being baseball. Nothing more.

I’ll go back and watch it again, but it sure seemed like he was only originally safe because the throw was offline. He would’ve been toast with a good throw. In that case, it’s bad baserunning and totally unnecessary given the circumstance.

I’m all for guys hustling and putting pressure on the base paths, but this wasn’t the time to do it.

We are arguing theories at the moment and not gospel and we are doing it without the beauty of 1) What he was told to do by the 1B coach and 2) Not knowing what the scouting report on that arm in right is

1/2 game out of 12th, which is the last spot in the B1Gt.

We finish with at Maryland (5-12), Minnesota (7-10), Michigan (8-9) & at Purdue (5-12).

Weekday vs KU, KSU & Pickle Smoochers - all in Lincoln.

Have to feel pretty good about moving up with that finish. Gotta keep the bats going and get settled in with the pitching staff, as to me it feels like the coaches still don't know how the want to use their bullpen.
