I just texted a couple buddies pretty much the same thing. It's killing me watching these other schools hire quality coaches meanwhile have to sit here and hope and pray Fred figures it the fuck out.I don't think we should've fired Hoiberg given his contract.
That being said, I do not like the fact that this was a very fruitful off-season of coaches we could've hired if we made a move, and a lot of them are going to be coaching against us in the B1G now (Devries, McCollum, Medved).

Couldn’t agree more. Wish we would have moved on from Fred but good coaches will always be available and they might not pan out either. People thought hiring Fred was a slam dunk and look how it has turned out. Can’t say it’s been great. My thing is we simply don’t know this though. Everybody thought that Groce when he got hired at Illinois was this incredible hire, Archie Miller at Indiana, the list of failed coaches goes on and on.
Sure they could end up being busts, that can be said about any coach making the jump. You don't know until you know. I think they will all do fairly well, personally. They're all well above .500 for their careers, with Medved being the lowest at .627.My thing is we simply don’t know this though. I think Devries could initially struggle at IU. I mean he didn’t exactly kill it in year 1 at WVU. Give or take his son being out.My thing is we simply don’t know this though. If given the choice, would you fire Fred and hire one of those 3 instead (contract issue aside)? I would
obviously the year ended awful, but i think he needs to make the ncaa next year or be gone. winning the crown i guess wouldI just texted a couple buddies pretty much the same thing. Sadler I would say fits the same mold. Miles I would disagree on. He was an average coach at CSU with a few upsets that brought too much hype imo.All of the guys but Devries are in pretty much the same mold of the guys we’ve previously had. So I’m not sure the shiny new toy argument is going to work on me this time.
If we find ourselves in the market, I’d probably be in the camp that wants to hire a retread who was at a big time job but it didn’t work out there but has proven to still be a solid coach.
Will Wade probably would have been my first call if I were searching for a coach.
