The fact that they recruit and control their numbers to stay out of class B.
I think you’re saying they actively recruit and manage their numbers to stay in Class B, allowing them to have a competitive advantage. Most Class B schools are there because of their actual enrollment, but Skutt chooses to stay in B, which a lot of people see as a bitch move.

I don’t like or dislike skutt but thoughts on elkhorn, gretna, and now Bennington building new HS every time they get bumped or close to bumped to A?

elkhorn high before south was built was crowded af, students were parking in neighboring businesses. I was a freshman when south opened. And even having just a "full" senior class, it could take a hour to get out of the parking lot after school.
Elkhorn high was crowed af before north was built. My sister graduated from high the first year north was open. That senior class had the biggest class at high since south was built.

High has practically no room for additions to the building unless you take away parking or athletic areas.

South is almost getting to the point too.

With the surge of development west, these schools fill capacity way too fast.

Now dont get me wrong they want to stay class b not necessarily for sports but because they want a better student to teacher ratio. But that is hard to keep up. Elkhorn cant control how fast they grow or the district population like skutt can. but they do somewhat control the buildings. I know im not that old but When i was in elementary school this was one hs one middle(until like 4th grade) and 4 elementary schools. When I graduated there were about 6800 students. last year there were 11000 students thats a 62% increate in 10 years.

Not saying your point is invaild but I think we would need to look at a the bigger picture, other than sports, to compare.

Bennington is the same now.......way over capacity.

Truly surprised it’s taking them this long to pass bonds. They were getting close and to capacity when I was still in schools
The first one was ridiculous and the 2nd one was y much better plus we already have (I believe) the highest property tax in the state. Most recent that passed was “no increase” in tax but what they didn’t mention is everyone else in the state got a decrease so technically no increase when we should get a decent decrease is still technically an increase.

Should have built a class A sized HS with the bond that was for a new middle school and turned the current HS/MS in to a class A sized MS. but no we just have to stay in B.

One of the big selling points of the one that failed last year was with two high schools, your children will have more opportunities to play sports. Clearly staying class B is a big reason they want to do it.

Didn't really get a decrease. They just moved the property tax credit from the tax return to apply to real estate tax (where it should have been all along).

Bennington definitely sucks for property tax though.

Didn’t the state pickup the cost of special education for every district?
