My issue is that people are seemingly fine playing 5+ hour rounds. No sense of urgency to play any faster than that.

@#HBD and I play in 2.5 at our normal pace, not rushing at all, so when people are casually playing at 5hr pace while being completely oblivious to what’s happening around them… that fucks me off.
Nailed on the complete obliviousness. Be aware.

Worst thing about Covid is all the people that got into golf. I’m only 26 and I remember pre Covid having no problem just showing up the friend or Hebron at 4 in the afternoon on a Sunday in the summer and having pretty much the entire course to ourselves and golfing 27+ holes until the sun went down. Now both places are packed full and it takes 4.5+ hours to do our round. Sucks

People that play 5 hour rounds are the same people that pick fights at sporting events but don’t realize they are ruining it for everyone around them. I played Mesa CC recently and they play six somes all day at 4 hours.

Slow play drives me nuts. Take 1 practice swing, look at the green as you’re walking up, read the putt while playing partners are putting/chipping, set your shit between the flag and your cart/next tee, don’t wait for green to clear when you just piped one 250 off the tee and have 260 into the green, play ready golf and be ready when it’s your turn (have your number, club, wind etc) and if your entire 4some drives to each ball to watch each person hit I will not feel guilty firing a warning shot over your carts.

That's how I feel.

Same with looking for golf balls. You lost it, so look for a minute and then drop one roughly in that area. Hit it and slow drive out of the area for one last look.

Searching for a ball is not the issue. Everyone is allowed 3 minutes. If you think it might be lost or out, hit a provisional. If it might be in the hazard, look to see what your drop line would be. It’s not hard to play fast if you pay attention.

I actually think this is an underrated post. There's a common trend where many amateur golfers opt for premium balls like Pro V, Chromesoft, Z-star, etc., which can cost $50 or more per dozen. However, not everyone's game matches the quality these balls offer, and often, players spend a significant amount of time searching for them. When you are looking for your golf ball on more holes than not, it adds up pretty fast.

I think I'm going to biting the bullet and decide I'm gonna take a once a week lesson. Golf course across the street offers lessons. Hoping I can get more consistent and shoot around 89-93ish all the time

Meh. 2 things happened since he had his initial hard line stance.
1- PGAT sold him out and the rest of the loyal players by negotiating with PIF behind their backs

2- LIV continued to pony up ridiculous cash with no plan to ever make money back clearly signaling nobody cares if professional golf is ruined.

Consistency is key. I took 3 lessons last year, not sure how much it helped. Planning to do at least 1-2 a month once the weather allows

Couple years ago I was struggling mightily with my swing...finally went and did a couple lessons to see what the hell I was fucking up. Exactly what I told the dude, and he was great about it. After about 5 swings, he identified it, had me do a few drills and something to focus on to fix it, and boom. Was stripping it again, in a sense that I can't really stripe the ball, but am good enough to be dangerous and score low. Month later, got 2nd in the big calcutta I play in every year.

That clip, even without subtitles, always makes me laugh. That dude makes me want to spend years becoming fluent in Spanish just so I can have beers with him.
I think most native mexican spanish speakers would need subtitles for this guy. I speak a little bit of spanish and can't hardly pick up on anything he is saying. Probably because he only has 4-5 total teeth in his mouth.

I had a good year last year. The most I have played in a while and the most improvement I have had in a year.

Going to be tough to top this year.

Felt like I played a lot of golf in 2023, but then I see some of my buddies from up north posting this and they have 100+ rounds in 7-8 months of season. Pre-marriage/kids I was a 3x week golfer. Now I'm not even a once a week hack :(
