I almost ran into a mountain lion about a year ago. Mountain trail I run on which has occasional sightings. Was coming down a tight switchback and it was right around the corner. I came to a jump stop about 10 feet from it. Fortunately for me, it didn't even acknowledge me. It was crossing the trail and didn't slow down, stop or speed up in crossing the trail. It was totally apathetic about my existence. Whole thing probably lasted 5 seconds but it seemed like an hour.

I think my garmin watch had my heart rate at about 195 for that portion of my run.
