4 of us from out of the area will be there. Unfortunately I will knot be able to provide any fresh seafood. Last time yall did this I sent 200# of fresh Halibut with @Jim14510 but he kept it all for personal needs. We will gladly make a deposit to a donation collection though.
I mean. I'm not giving up fresh seafood. I dont think thats unreasonable.

Before we get into specific plans, I think its important to lay out the initial framework of my plans:

1. It will be logistically impossible for all attendees to park at the same spot, so I plan to arrive early to grab a location that will be big enough and visible enough that stragglers can all eventually walk to the tailgate spot. You can see the picture below:

The red arrows are indicative of some sports where I would prefer to set up. The red Arrows on the far right are the premium tailgate spots from a room standpoint. They are out of the hot concrete and on the grass. Only challenge with grabbing those spots is its first come first serve, and that means myself or anyone would need to be there immediately when the gates open. I'm sure I can make it work with my schedule that day, but if its like a Chiefs game, there will be 120 cars lined up hours before the gates arrived just so they can grab those premium locations.

These spots are ideal because they offer more room, closer proximity to porta- potties, more room to play games such as bags/cornhole and grabass. But its also off the hot concrete, and there is some shade that starts to creep up on that side of the stadium starting around 4 pm.

But, if it turns out that those spots aren't available, I do think I can move over to that far arrow, just East of Kauffman Stadium. Ironically, this spot will likely be much easier to access for any of you travelling to the stadium from the North or from downtown KC. It will be closer to your stadium entrance.

However, most of you will need to walk to the tailgate location after parking.

Now, I do think we need to get a confirmation of who can and will attend. Perhaps we can offer a "soft rsvp" date of August 7th. That is nearly a month from now, and 3 weeks before the game. The RSVP will help us really get down and granular for a couple of things:

  • I was kidding earlier when I said children can only come if they are your daughter over age 18. I absolutely encourage everyone to bring some kids if you have them. Bring spouses as well. Keep in mind if my wife is there, she will mock us incessantly as Internet Dorks who discuss football online. Her words may hurt, but she's not wrong.
  • I think myself and probably someone else can absolutely commit to bringing a grill, and I can even commit to the act of grilling. I'm a man, I'm 40+, I know how to cook some god damn meat. However, judging by the size of our attendees, we may need to decide whether we want to gather some cash to purchase meat before hand or whether its easier for people to bring their own meat. I'm good either way, but I don't want to make it more complex than it needs to be
  • Probably need some volunteers to bring the following items:
    • Tent or Tents
    • washers or bags games
    • any other games
    • condoms for Doc
    • restraining order for Doc
    • pepper spray for any child getting too close to Doc.
    • Speaker - Music - something better than a car radio - If you bring it, you can probably choose the tunes, but I have a very strict No James Taylor Music rule. I fucking hate that weirdo, and nothing ruins a tailgate more than early 70's easy listening music.
    • Liquor, Alcohol, Beer, Kegs, - BYOB seems like the best option, but if someone has a better idea let me know. I wish I could say I am one of those Chiefs fans with my own refurbished short bus that holds a keg and a tap. But I'm not smart enough or skilled enough to refurbish and maintain an old bus.
    • Table or Tables. - this is really contingent on the size of our crowd.
    • I think condiments, plates, cups, napkins, paper towels, and trash bags are things that can be decided later after we find out a head count.

We can use this thread to determine official head count.

I also want to mention one last thing because I know Husker fans enough to realize there is going to be fucking traffic fiasco getting into Arrowhead starting around 5:30 pm. Rush hour traffic on 435 and I-70 is already pretty significant at that time of the evening. When you add thousands of extra vehicles trying to exit on only a handful of exits into the Stadium complex, it will create an even bigger bottleneck.

On August 29th, there will be Husker message board posts from fans bitching about how they missed kickoff. And there will be a common theme amongst those fans, "I left my hotel at 6:30 and then it took us almost 90 minutes to travel the last 2 miles into the stadium. This happens anytime an event at Arrowhead brings in spectators from outside of KC. So I would recommend all of you try to be to the stadium by 4:30 pm or earlier. This should alleviate any stress and it would also give us plenty of time to have a good time at the tailgate.
I have a good size camper with a good size TV I was thinking about bringing down. I have one of those solar powered generators. Probably could run a couple of tvs on it
