Why was everyone so excited about Toure?

not really - you seem to think Nebraska can only succeed using a certain type of system and I don’t see why that’s true
I guess to me there’s different levels to success. Can we in the last 20 years win 8-9 games running some form of the spread? Sure, fans hate that though. Can we be historically elite running some form of the spread? Doesn’t look like it

what offense can we be historically elite running in this day and age? And why would fans hate rhe spread if we were winning games?

Some fans would get impatient with “not being able to win the big one”

Toure against MINNESOTA: 1 Rec, 1 yd
Michigan: 3 Rec, 38 yds
Mich St: 5 Rec, 42 yds
Oklahoma: 3 Rec, 27 yds

The guy just doesn’t get it done against elite talent, everyone on RSS wanted to buy into the hype and give me shit for telling everyone to pump the breaks on him
I'll give you a hard time for using Minnesota and elite in the same sentence. That's just fucking retarded.

Fwiw I had him getting about 40 catches for 850 yards. Thought he was going to be a very solid WR.

I actually felt his impact would be better off the field in providing leadership in that room.

I don’t think Minnesota is elite talent. I guess I should have explained myself a little better. He isn’t getting it done when he plays teams with more talent than he was playing at Montana

Well who was saying he was going to push 1500 yards?

I don't know anybody who understands the game was saying they expected him to get it done at the level he was at Montana.

Did I say I thought he would push for 1500 yards? No, and I’m not sure I’ve heard anyone say that. Many people have said he has the potential to be a third round guy and even could have been drafted last year. Wouldn’t you expect at least a little bit better production out of a guy like that

It seems like when he does get the ball thrown at him he makes the play and Martinez misses him open quite a bit, so what else do you want him to do? He has been a solid player as far as I’m concerned.

I don't care if Scott Trotted Larry Fucking Fitzgerald on the field all year at WR, nobody is getting Biletnikoff winner type numbers when you have Adrian Martinez throwing the ball.

The reality of the situation is that a lot of people pumped up Toure based on the hilarious untruth that he got "a draft grade that didn't say undrafted" in an era where the NFL evaluation committee only gives out 1st, 2nd or entry not advised. In other words, total bullshit.

Toure probably would have benefited at least from a fan perception stand point if he was viewed as what he is a very good FCS WR who needed to come up a level to show he is draft worthy. And unfortunately for him, he didn't talk to Wandale about the problems Frost /Lubick have of really featuring a wr
