I think it goes the other way but like you described. McCarthy is nothing special and McCord has got better plus the OSU run game seems to be ramping up.

If McCarthy is still hobbling, Ohio State wins. Ohio State make get a few calls their way. Pettite does not want to hand Big 10 championship trophy to Hairbaugh

My opinion has flipped of late. OSU has improved all year long and it looks to me there are some signs that Michigan peeked early...
