Spring game 2023 is in the books, so…who gone?

Some guesses:

Purdy
Smothers
Torres
Victor Jones
Braxton Clark
Pola-Gates
Ajay Allen

I’m sure there are a couple obvious ones I’m not remembering off the top of my head.

You stole my thread idea. It's gonna be a wild af next few days.

Purdy
Smothers
Torres
Pola Gates
Jones
Clark
Hill
Malcolm
Gbayor
Lynum

I don't think that quite gets us to 85 yet, but I don't remember how many need to drop. I think they actually try to get down to 82 or 80 to add some more linemen.

Why Gbayor?

I hope Torres stays
What do you like about him? He didn't show well today.

Based solely on this scrimmage, I'd also be tempted to put Purdy into a game first over Haarberg. He has a more accurate arm and makes better decisions running - at least I thought he did today. Obviously don't see him in practice. But neither looked great.

I don't think we have anyone we can win with after Sims and Thompson based on what we saw today. Sims looks good.

Defense looks to have a lot of potential. OL looked better, not great. This offense helps mask some of their issues.

A lot of good transfers and freshmen.

We have several decent RBs but no real difference makers. I think there will be a lot of substitution as they look for someone who functions best against whomever we're playing.

I thought about adding Hill but with him already having transferred I thought maybe he’d stick it out. Also thought about adding one of either Gbayor or Kpai. Totally forgot about Lynum but he’s for sure one to watch for moving on.

We can do a follow up: how long till the first one enters? I bet we see someone enter by 6 tonight.

I think he's got a nice arm and more mobile than I expected. Showed great arm strength on that throwaway with a dude around his legs and had a good looking throw on the run that Sanford appeared to have broken up. I could see him developing into a good QB in a while.

I'd expect at least 2 of Smothers, Purdy, and Torres to move on though.

But yeah we're not winning a game if anyone other than Thompson or Sims plays this season.

@Carm I love ya brother - and I’m not saying I disagree with your basic point - but me thinks you didn’t watch Purdy play in a game last year

13 need to go, then if anyone is picked up in the portal they will have to cut someone.

Allen did not appear to have a good spring, still a lot of hope for him, but outside of that and Smother just because I think when healthy he is a solid FCS or low G5 QB.

I want you to know - and I can't stress this enough - idgaf about Colorado.

Just thought it was funny because I flipped over and saw their game and it reconfirmed how tiny they look.
