I got back a rough estimate from a local company on a basic rectangular pool. Came back with a 16x36 is about 100K I about shit my pants.

Guess the wife isn't getting a pool.

That's definitely the case. Limited # of reputable pool contractors. During COVID, when everyone decided that they wanted a pool, prices essentially doubled in price and just stayed there.
