Where would this SMU team finish in this year's Big Ten? Nebraska BTW finished in a tie for 12th.

They would probably go around 7-5 to 8-4 depending on how their schedule was drawn up. But in my opinion, it doesn't really matter.

All the conversation around Indiana and SMU or even potentially Boise State not belonging in the playoff is just noise. If you don't finish in the top two of the Big Ten, SEC or any of the other major conferences, then you shouldn't have any assurance to the playoff anyway.

Give these longer shot teams some chances and see what happens. People remember Boise State and Oklahoma or Appalachian State and Michigan for a reason. It's a much better outcome to watch Boise State or SMU get their shot than 3 loss Alabama, Ole Miss or USCjr. They had every opportunity all season in conference play.

I didn't realize SMU did not play Syracuse or Miami in the ACC this year. That's a bit of a joke

They lost to the only two teams they played with a pulse and beat no one. Them being in is a joke. Don’t come at me with the “it’s noise” bullshit. They’re awful. So is Indiana but I can get behind a one loss B1G team being in. I can’t get behind a TWO loss ACC team who didn’t play the two best teams in the conference and lost to the third best team in the conference. GTFO with that.

It will go to a 16 team playoff soon and after that it will go to 24-32 teams and bowls will be gone.

Syracuse and Miami are actually pretty solid teams this year. And SMU played neither LOL

They look worse than Nebraska. We went on the road to OSU and looked physically even with them, even better in some areas. SMU looks not in the same ballpark as PSU.

There isn't an ACC or Big 12 team that would finish in the top 4. Not much difference between 5-14.
Syracuse and Miami never really beat a good team either. They are going to keep expanding the playoff anyways. There is money to be made.

They would get eaten alive with injuries due to the week in week out grind. They aren’t big enough or skilled enough.

They have some skill. The line play would kill them. You could tell before the game their qb wasn’t going to handle the cold when he talked to the game day guys. It was probably the same for most of the team.

There is no valid argument that Alabama, Ole Miss, or South Carolina deserve to be in the playoff. None.

Sure there is. They’re one of the 7 best non conference champions. You might not like it but it’s the truth. Be mad at the field size if you want, but one of those teams absolutely should have been in over fucking SMU.

Nobody from the ACC should have made the playoff. We’ll see how ASU fares, but not really sure the Big 12 should have a team in either. That’s just this year, though, and I am sure eventually things will even out
