Where will Nick Saban coach next?

I think this is really just a bunch of shit:

1. Saban turns 74 in a few months.
2. That means at the minimum he would be coaching somewhere new while turning 75.
3. I don't believe Saban has it in him to take over a rebuilding task at his age.
4. I don't see an Elite program hiring a man who will be 75 or older while coaching.

An NFL job might be plausible though.

I would think maybe FSU, would keep him out of the SEC and Big 10, and only have Clemson and the occasional Miami to worry about in conference
I can see FSU making sense for those reasons, but Norvell has a massive buyout. Maybe they have donors willing to pay it for Saban, but I'm skeptical.

They are also one of the programs rumored to be considering using private equity to raise money, so maybe they are getting desperate

Hard to say considering most of those teams have the highest buyouts in the country.
  1. Georgia - $118 million
  2. USC - $90 million
  3. Alabama - $70 million
  4. Florida State - $64 million
  5. LSU - $61 million
  6. Clemson - $60 million
  7. Penn State - $57 million
  8. Nebraska - $56 million
  9. Texas - $55 million
  10. Oregon - $45 million

maybe he coaches a UFL team cause he’s bored

Part of me says "why"? The other part says "why the hell not"? I guess if he isn't into doing broadcasting, what the heck is he going to do? He doesn't strike me as the type of guy to just sit around his house and watch Netflix.

BigClit24 is saying wants to be Rhule’s DC. He loves coaching ball but wants less of the lime light. Pretty much a done deal at this point…
Or to Boulder with his good buddy Deion?

Same age as Belichek and Pete Carroll

This is kinda what I'm thinking if it were to happen. Could see him wanting another shot to really cement his legacy

Couple of differences:

1. Bellichek was willing to take over a midlevel program like Carolina. I can't see Saban interested in something similar.
2. Pete Carrol grew up a huge Raiders Fan. I'm not sure he would've taken any other job.

I do think the NFL avenue might be there for Saban because the year-round responsibilities aren't the same.

Lot's of similarities though as well. These guys jut love coaching and have it in their DNA. Saban may not enjoy sitting at home and is itching to get back and just coach somewhere. He's made the money, at this point it's probably just about being around football as it is with Pete and Bill.

  • Nebraska - $56 million

The above ($54.5M) is if Nebraska fires Rhule. What you listed is what schools would owe their coaches upon termination. And I can't imagine any coach signing a contract with the buyouts you listed.

Unless it's been reworked, and not public knowledge, Rhule leaves on his own and it's the following:

Agree with this. It's likely just off-season social media fodder for ESPN and I doubt he returns.

If he did return, it would be the NFL. He's noted that he's not a big fan of the issues you have to managed today in CFB (NIL, Transfer Portal, etc).

He has the stamina for it but doubtful its CFB. He has nothing more to accomplish there.
