When Frost was hired...

1,3 & 5

I overestimated how bad HCMR was

I also overestimated Frost's abilities.
Agreed. I still just can't imagine throwing to our WRs of the past two years, particularly last year. This should be a way better barometer of how HCSF can coach an offense.

This will be a big evaluation year. The others have a lot of shit covered on them. His three year clock has started.

I felt really good after seeing freshmen Martinez and Ozigbo rush for 7yds/carry.

Hopefully we get something similar to that year 1 offense with a top 30 defense.
I’m prolly deep in the Kool-aid here...and I recognize that. AND, I passionately believe we are an 8-9 win team this year.

...yes, I do recognize how f’ed up that sounds too.

If we aren't this year, we will never be under Frost. You've got a very experienced defense, supposedly all of the offensive weapons are figured out. Line is young which isn't a great indicator but talented. And you've got a 4 year starter at qb.

To Opey (Opey is short for toby), I can't remember what my expectations were at the time, but proly natty's every other year.

What I thought back then was that his "culture" would be established much sooner. I've been surprised by all the attrition, especially from players that were either highly ranked and never played/contributed. I've also been surprised by the moving-on of contributors and even star players prior to their eligibility ending.

I also didn't foresee a pandemic, a shortened season, and whatever the fuck the past sixteen months have been. I know, excuses, excuses. I also would have never predicted that MattyD would be such a high profile bad influence.

Cliffs?

We've got the only QB under Frost. 4 year starter sounds nice but yeah he didn't put much in his stable either.

Im riding this train to Year 7. This will be a big year but no sense in hoopin n hollerin. Gotta admit we have talent finally

Agree on the talent. Just not sure it's being coached in an effective way. Fingers crossed. This is the year. If palpable progress isn't established this year, I am afraid it never will.

I look at the team and look at the schedule and see 8 teams we should beat.

  1. Illinois
  2. FU
  3. Buffalo
  4. Michigan
  5. Michigan state
  6. Northwestern
  7. Purdue
  8. Minnesota
I then see 2 toss up but tilted to the other team.
1. Cockeye
2. Wisconsin

Two teams we need a lot of luck and that still might not be enough.
1. Ohio state
2. Oklahoma

Now under Bo I would have no problem seeing us win 9 games. Take care of business against the teams you should and beat Cockeye.

Under Frost I almost expect us to lose two we shouldn't and lose to Cockeye/Wisconsin.

Jmo I think momentum is key this year. Starting 3-0 and not getting boat raced vs Oklahoma changes a lot on the expectation front for the last 2/3rds of the year.

I brought this up because talent isn't the problem. Your maximize your talent you can win the west.

Problem is I need to see them do it again.

I 100% agree. We couldn't snap the ball at times last year.

The only Big 10 West team that has clearly been better than us since Frost's arrival is Wisconsin. Cockeye has struggled to beat us the last three years despite having one of the better teams in the west. I don't think we are as bad as people want to think.

Thought we'd make a bowl game in his first year.

Thought we'd compete for the Big 10 West in year 3.

Thought we'd win it by year 5, and the Big 10 Champ by 7-8.

Agreed. Past experiences lead ones beliefs and you ain’t wrong.

I feel like we have just enough experience, growth, and change within the program and enough opportunities in change at other programs to have it come together this year.
