What does our 2022 depth chart look like?

Safety I think is a downgrade. I think experience back there is vital. Especially with how we ask them to fit in the run game.
Agree but really Williams seemed to be injured every other game. Farmer had the same amount of snaps. I'm with @MtnHusker on him though. He seems so slow.

QB: even
RB: upgrade
Wr: upgrade
TE: down
OL: down

DT: down
DE: Upgrade
LB: even
CB: Even
S: Even
I think QB will be a small upgrade. He won't make as many flashy, miraculous plays, but it's impossible to make as many boneheaded crunch time decisions as AMart.

I also think the OL will take a step forward (baring significant injuries). We lost Cam, but Teddy is back and we added a few transfers for depth. I truly don't think it can be worse.

LB I think you take a step forward.

I think CB you need to factor in a projection Newsome improving and Hill being a stud... both which I would feel comfortable with.
Safety I think is a downgrade. I think experience back there is vital. Especially with how we ask them to fit in the run game.

QB I tend to agree. To me it comes down to crunch time for if we upgraded. If Casey can win a few games there upgrade. I think they are fairly similar talent wise it just comes down to what you want/need your QB to do.

I agree everywhere else too. OL might be a better unit, but less talented, but who the fuck knows.
I could see the LBs being better but performing worse because I think the DT position will hurt them, and if T rob misses any significant time it could really suck for them.

I think at DB they will be deeper and more talented but far less proven. I really like the safeties, and Hill at CB. DB is one of those spots that it pays to have experience. Fisher has his work cut out for him but has the ingredients to make it happen.

I think Casey will be safer with the football but I wonder about him having to throw under pressure a lot and he doesn’t have the wheels Martinez did. It’s all going to boil down to how they establish the run and if Casey can develop some chemistry with a couple of the receivers. And based off of the players they have on the line (out side of a banged up Teddy and Corchan) they don’t have much.

What do you guys think? I have no idea how our WR room is supposed to look. It's not the worst looking depth chart in the world. The o-line is a concern but we have a decent amount of experience going into 2022 which is important. The defense looks pretty solid IMO.

QB: Thompson, Smothers/Purdy
RB: Grant/Yant/Johnson
WR: Palmer, ICG
WR: Manning, Washington
WR: Brown, Martin
TE: Vokolek, Fidone
LT: Teddy P, Banks
LG: Nouili, Bando
C: Corc, Hixson
RG: Williams, Lutovsky
RT: Benhart, Anthony

DE: Nelson, Gunnerson
DT: Robinson, Drew
DT: Wynn, Nash
DE: Mathis, Butler
LB: Reimer, EMC
LB: Henrich, Snodgrass
LB: Tannor, Kolarevic
N: Gifford, Kolarevic
CB: Hill, Brown
CB: Newsome, Clark
S: Singleton, Buford
S: Farmer, Williams
What happened with Pieper? He goes from young super athletic starter that looked to have a bright future to not even being mentioned in the 2 Deep, on a terrible line. Next time I'm in the grocery store gonna have to look on the side of a milk carton to see if his picture is there with the other Missing People

Wouldn't be overly surprising for him to be on the 2 deep in fall camp with people losing their fucking minds about it.

I thought Banks transferred. Seeing his name listed was a surprise.

I could see this. Especially if Ty misses time.

I think it is the consensus that the room is more talented. Safety is one spot that the DB room probably takes a step back.

Texas had an awful OL too. Iirc UT OL was in the bottom part of the big 12 in terms of pressure rate allowed.

So probably still better than ours, but we should/better be better than our 2021 unit.

I think Casey has better pocket presence. If he can climb the pocket that can help out as much as running for your life. I also think Casey does a good job of anticipating where to go with the ball and gets rid of it quickly.

I think you hit on a good point about establishing the run. I do think the OL will be better run blocking and that should help.

He was fucking awful... I have no clue how he fucking played let alone started for 1.5 years.

I don't know if he isn't strong enough, smart enough, coached up enough, but he was likely the worst OL in all P5.

Fwiw, it depends on what they do at center. If they role Turner down (what I would do) he is likely your 3rd center. If they kick Turner to the RT then he is likely your backup center.

There was also a lot of really good pass rushers on the Nebraska schedule last year. I don’t think it will be as formidable in 2022

Yup. Hutchinson from Michigan who was the 2nd pick in the draft (didn't have any sacks against us), and that guy from Purdue who went 30th overall

I mean....

Bonito Winfrey and Thomas for OU

Then played against 15 of the top 18 in sacks in the B1G.
  1. Mich - Hutchinson & Ojabo
  2. Wiscy Herbig & Chenal
    1. Fun fact Chenal is like the 2nd most athletic LB drafted. (don't quote me on that, but he score fucking high for his size)
  3. Mich State - Panasiuk, Pietrowski &Beesley
  4. Minnesota - Mafe & Rush
    1. The fact Mafe was drafted should help Benhart out this year alone
  5. Cockeye - Evans, Van Ness and VanValkenburt
  6. Illinois - Carney
  7. OSU - Haskell, Williams
  8. Purdue - Jenkins & Karlaftis

I think I have 11 guys (on that list) who were drafted or UDFA.
