What do you guys think? I have no idea how our WR room is supposed to look. It's not the worst looking depth chart in the world. The o-line is a concern but we have a decent amount of experience going into 2022 which is important. The defense looks pretty solid IMO.

QB: Thompson, Smothers/Purdy
RB: Grant/Yant/Johnson
WR: Palmer, ICG
WR: Manning, Washington
WR: Brown, Martin
TE: Vokolek, Fidone
LT: Teddy P, Banks
LG: Nouili, Bando
C: Corc, Hixson
RG: Williams, Lutovsky
RT: Benhart, Anthony

DE: Nelson, Gunnerson
DT: Robinson, Drew
DT: Wynn, Nash
DE: Mathis, Butler
LB: Reimer, EMC
LB: Henrich, Snodgrass
LB: Tannor, Kolarevic
N: Gifford, Kolarevic
CB: Hill, Brown
CB: Newsome, Clark
S: Singleton, Buford
S: Farmer, Williams

I'm worried if Farmer is our Starting Safety unless he has done a complete 180. Was hard to watch him play last year. Seemed slow on the field and almost afraid of contact. Not good qualities to have in a safety.

I don't know if I can handle watching Benhart at RT again. Unless the new OL coach has unlocked something in him that we don't know about.

I assume he's the starter because of the experience factor

Nice thing about our defense is that we have a decent amount of experience coming back.

Nelson, Robinson, Mathis, Reimer, Tannor, Henrich, Newsome all started last year.

Gifford played a lot down the stretch. Farmer has starting experience.

Singleton and Hill both played at their previous spots.

Wynn didn't play much but Drew has experience.

I still have hope with Benhart. Someone on one of these boards much smarter than me broke down our O Linemen Splits/Assignments/Stances last season and noted that due to how the coaches had him setting up he was being put in a position where it was going to be very difficult for him to block Speed Rushers. Basically negating his strengths (size/strength) and exposing his weakness (foot speed). They put quite a bit of the blame on the coaches and scheme. Hopefully with Raiola's more aggressive schemes they will also have better positioning/splits for the O Line.

My biggest concern for the O Line is if we have Hixson start at Center. No doubting the kid is tough but IMHO just hasn't shown the footspeed or athleticism for what Frost wants from the Center position for blocking assignments at the Power5 Level against teams like OSU, Wisc, PSU, Mich.....

I have friends who played Offensive Line at KU and in the NFL that watched Corcoran play before he got to Nebraska. Both of them said that Turner's skill and body type was better suited as an interior lineman at the Power5 College Level. Hoping he can get healthy and be our answer at Center as it seems he might be a good fit for what we ask from that position..

Yeah Hixson can't do it....at least not well.

@Faux Sean Callahan has said that it is a mental issue with Benhart and not a physical issue. Hopefully Riaola can get him sorted out
He physically has it. I do think he looked better in the spring game going against Tannor. Which Tannor isn't an NFL DE, but he is still a 5th year talented player.

We will see, but it would not surprise me to see Benhart bounce back at all.

I think QB will be upgrade and DT will be even. Thompson can't run as well as Martinez but I think he is better as a passer/leader and fits the offense better.

The defense you needed to get your weaknesses so they were serviceable and didn't lose you games. Hopefully that is what they did with Singleton, Drew, Wynn, etc...

The step that really needs to happen is your Nick, Luke, Ty, Nelson, Mathis, Newsome and Hill to step in and be your playmakers.

DT: down
DE: Upgrade

LB I think you take a step forward.

I think CB you need to factor in a projection Newsome improving and Hill being a stud... both which I would feel comfortable with.
Safety I think is a downgrade. I think experience back there is vital. Especially with how we ask them to fit in the run game.
QB: even
RB: upgrade
Wr: upgrade
TE: down
OL: down
QB I tend to agree. To me it comes down to crunch time for if we upgraded. If Casey can win a few games there upgrade. I think they are fairly similar talent wise it just comes down to what you want/need your QB to do.

I agree everywhere else too. OL might be a better unit, but less talented, but who the fuck knows.
