Week 11 @ UCLA: Game Notes, Depth Chart, etc

Our Coaching staff has done a poor job of recruiting QBs after signing "their guy." I will give credit to Rhule for continuing to make that position a priority, even after securing Dylan.

TJ is a considerable upgrade from what Nebraska has seen in the past. Only challenge for him is he probably isn't ready to jump into action right now.
At 1st glance you'd think he wouldn't be ready.

I do think that a full week of game prep as the starter will go along way. He's obviously a very smart kid or he wouldn't be QB2 right now. I think he's a quick processor and the coaches trust him to go win games. Saturday was a tough spot for any kid to get thrust into.

TJ didn't look bad. Made one mistake (fumbled snap) that if that play was clean then Jacory walks into the endzone on that screen, it was perfectly executed from the other 10 guys on the field. His deep shot to Hunter was placed well, DB just made a really good play on the ball.

We'll be fine. Fuck everyone else. GO BIG RED.

Oh, I don't think he will shit all over himself in Sims or Haarberg fashion. However, I do expect him to make some mistakes and struggle.

Can anyone, for the life of me, explain why whenever Nebraska is forced to play a backup QB it becomes the Keystone Cops, but when the opposing team does it they are all of a sudden the 1999 St Louis Rams Superbowl winning offense?

How many examples in the recent past do we have of Nebraska having a comically unprepared back up QB?

Andrew Bunch
WR McCaffrey
Ryker Fife
Something called Chubba Purdy.

Meanwhile I remember Purdue having it happen twice when we played them and their next guy carved us up. A few years ago MSU played two backups and they both torched us. (Their backup this year would have beaten us probably but they brought Chiles back in)
USC last year.
Cockeye is able to throw any slop-arm they want out there and get a W 90% of the time against Nebraska. I'm absolutely sure I'm missing a few.

And we've been sold, by Rhule, that having this huge roster means more reps for everyone in practice, Huge development. So I don't want to see a guy appearing to learn the rules of the game of football real-time in Los Angeles this weekend.

Sorry, I hit the caffeine a little hard today and got worked up. Rant over.

Not having an OL and a run game we can lean on in these situations really hurts. We have to find a way to finally build an OL room that has enough players ready to handle injuries and play well and have more than 1 RB to run behind them.

UCLA -3.5 now.

Guess true freshman QB on the road is the only important storyline.

Beat UCLA and Penn state and go into Cockeye with a chance at 9-3 would still make for a pretty fun year. Hopefully we implement quite a bit of QB run with Lateef. GBR
I refuse to engage in thinking we get to 9-3. Saves me the pain of the team not meeting expectations.

To be fair, I bet they do run for 200+ this weekend. UCLA has a much worse run defense than Nebraska. Hell, only Colorado and Rutgers are allowing more yards per carry.

With us being off next week and starting a backup QB, I would imagine this is an EJ 25+ touches game between the ground and pass games

You keep Dean certified Andrew “Greatest back up QB we have ever had then immediately loses to Troy” Bunch

Out of your whore mouth!

Plus for years we haven't had a team built for BIG mud/rock/knife fights.
