Watch snobs will hate on shinola but having owned one I really liked it, lost it on a trip sadly. Number 1 thing about watches, buy what you like not what you think others like. My most worn watch for a decade was a Casio, loved that thing and keep it even though it’s dead
Noticed they got a fair amount of hate. Realistically I won't ever buy the the $3k model but I might get a lower end one. Glad to hear you liked yours.

That's a nice looking watch. I have been using a smart watch for many years now, but watches like this one you posted are my type of conventional watches.
Thank you - I like simple looks.

This particular watch was gifted to me...but I was able to select what I wanted, vs. accepting what was given to me. I wouldn't normally spend that kind of $$ on a watch. I think this one retailed at about $6000 IIRC.

Holy crap, 9 grand! Whoever got that for joy dropped some coin!

$6K - but still. I'll spend that on a car for my kid, but not a watch. LOL

I meant 6. Keyboard is broken on my rig and I'm using touchscreen. Not sure how I hit 9 instead of 6 lol.

I hear you on dropping that much coin. I admit I bought fossil watches before I started using smart watches.

My grandfather was a jeweler and watch repairman. He owned 4 jewelry stores in Deshler, Red Cloud, Geneva and Platte Center in the '40s '50s and '60s. As a little kid I used to sit at his bench and watch him do watch repairs.

He told me the most reliable watches he saw were all American and the brands he loved were Elgin, Hamilton and Bulova. No batteries of course, all stem wound. He wore a Hamilton and I had an Elgin. I don't know how many of the high end Euro watches he saw but he didn't talk about them.

I wear a Raymond Weil and I really like it.

I ran into Flava Flav at a outdoor mall in Las Vegas about 20 years ago. He had one of his baby mamas with him... she was about a 2 on the scale if were being generous... and he was in Yankee Candle trying to buy like 50 candles and negotiating a discount. He was wearing a clock....and he is tiny.

In what way?
It stopped working after a couple of years.
Had to do a full overhaul on it.

Then I cracked the crystal and got it a little wet in the process . Another overhaul.

Then the chrono stopped working.
It was past the last overhaul warranty period, but Borsheims got them to cover it.

Each of these repairs took 6-8 months…

My seiko has taken a beating and has never had a problem. If I could go back knowing what I know now, I would have stuck with seiko all along.

Edit - forgot to add that it has stopped running twice recently after using the chrono. Something new is out of whack.

If I have to overhaul it again, I’m going to sell it and cut my losses.

Weird, I’ve had mine for a few years and no issues at all.

I realized we don’t really ever talk about watches here, which is a shame.

I love watches. I do not love spending money. So I have some replicas. What watches do you all wear?
I went though a time where I forced myself to wear one. Just couldn't get comfortable with something on my wrist. I need to try again. I might have autism as well, idk

I like the look of those Elgin watches. Prices aren't bad here either.

I'm the same way I used to work on cars when I was younger so I never wore a watch or any kind of jewelry haven't been able to get used to them since.
