Indiana brought in Fernando Mendoza and Ole Miss brought in Trinidad Chambliss. Both those guys have played awesome and are in playoffs. Pretty much nobody considered either of those guys as “home runs” out of the portal. You don’t have to get one of the top 5 consensus portal QBs to actually get a legit top 5 portal QB.

One correction here:

Fernando Mendoza had like 94 and 4-Star transfer rating in the portal. He was highly coveted as a transfer. Auburn, Tennessee, and even Ole Miss all wanted him.

Now you're right about Chambliss though. Kiffin just flat out worked everybody there.

Maybe, but he’s not a sure thing. there’s no sure fire transfer right now so this portal season comes down to talent evaluation. And I’m not banking on Rhule’s track record on talent evaluation. I sure hope the Pat Stewart addition is going to rectify that, but at this point I don’t trust Rhule and co. to “win” the portal.
