One thing Cockeye does right is their license plates. I’d pay extra in Nebraska for that black plate.

Yep - he made it.
I've used it as a "fail" gif for years, and people always seemed to ask, "Did he die?" I mean ... how TF would I know? It's just a gif.
Then a tMB super-sleuth actually posted an article that talked about the situation and he did, in fact, make it. Super busted up from the fall, obviously, but the "coyote-esque" landing puff of snow is what saved him, IIRC.
Sounds like this player had it coming. Did it one final time that put the refs over the top ?
