Martinez is 1 of the worst QBs we have ever had start for 4 years, in fact he might be the worst 4 year starter in school history and that’s not hyperbole
He’s too soft. Seems like a good kid but seems to have no killer instinct in him at all. Any swag he had his freshman year was removed with the cartilage in his shoulder. Wish him the best after football but he doesn’t need to be the QB here, or anywhere.

@slattimer when you build out offensive reads... Is there ever a situation where a intermediate crosser would be a read 1st before a deep read?
I’m a big proponent of the Dan Gonzalez method of teaching reads and route structures. Deep routes are used to force a defense to play 2:1 on the deep route. Thus opening up other windows because the defense had to compensate for the deep route. So if you’re not going to throw or even look at the deep ball. You’re allowing them to play the main part of the route concept.

its the advantage principle. ACTS. Advantage - some route to isolate or force the defense to cover a certain route to take it away. Typically vertical or option routes. Concept. Usually a hi/lo or 2 man concept that exploits a defense if the advantage is take away. Third fix. Basically a check down or backside 2 man hi/lo if the concept is taken away. Scramble. If all those are covered. Run. Because they’ve dropped 8. Or you suck because you qb can’t throw or wrs can’t get open.
