He’s also doing that with nearly zero calf muscle on this right leg as well. What they do is graph the muscle from the calf of the good leg over the amputation of the leg they lost to create a “cushion” or pad for the leg so it’s not as sensitive. I have way too many friends from the marine corps without legs and arms
