TPB X thread

Social media has turned into such a cess pool of bullshit information. It's like a game of instantaneous telephone.

Bottom line I do think there are still a lot of people missing but no idea what even the range is. Last legitish number I saw is 227 dead. So sad. I don't know what the timeline looks like for getting back to normalish.

Trying to remember how long it took to get everything fixed from the floods a few years ago. The tornados from this spring seems to be pretty well cleaned up. The Asheville hurricane was like both at once.

Maybe @Dawgsauce has some info. I think he was fortunate enough to avoid destruction at his own house.
On the missing-This is how they do these disasters now every time. They won't release #s until identifications are either successful or played out. They are still going into new areas and probably finding more. FBI and Homeland security is here to match DNA with families of missing. Gonna be a long process. Will I have running water first or will we have a count of deceased first? Long time. This is a hurricane, mountain floods (think of the scariest whitewater you can raft and then multiply by 10), and mudslides. All over a very large area. Here in WNC we're all doing what we can and getting along. Trying to block outside noise. It was making me angry, and I don't need that right now. Will say don't believe tiktoks or videos where they say they are keeping supplies out, hiding things, trying to land grab, on and on. This is a disaster, and it has had a crazy amount thrown at it for help and recovery. Military aircraft are working out of Asheville, Salisbury, and Greenville airports. The others around are too small to support these crafts and therefore are being utilized by civilian responders.

Are we sure it’s not 163 just not accounted for
By the school? There’s a big difference between a school not knowing where kids are at and 163 kids actually missing from their families
Don't know the answer. As helpful as social media can be, it is also full of inaccurate or misleading info. I'm ignoring and waiting on down the road when they have an official count of missing and identified. It will not be soon. WNC was hit hard and Spruce Pine hit very hard as well. So, who knows.
