I had an Alpine deck with a detachable face plate. Learned that lesson when MF'ing thieves smashed my window in my underground apt. complex in downtown MPLS and ripped the deck outta the dash and the speakers right out of the doors & tailgate.
I. HATE. THIEVES. And liars. Strap them all to a rocket and shoot them into the sun.
