...is that we have about a month until we play games that matter now. So plenty of time to get some things improved and get the personel figured out. *turns to stare at Anthony Grant.

Fuck me, but Jeff Simms is just Adrian Martinez 2.0. I can't believe we are gonna do this again and OTOH my worries about him going pro after one year have completely disappeared.

Thank God the defense looks like it is better than serviceable. But it won't matter with Arm Punt Simms. Getting ready for more pain in the conference games if we don't get better at a long list of things, boys.

Sims is going to be ugly all year in the passing game. It's just a reality we need to accept lol. Felt really good about Tony White after the game. If we get some better athletes those blitzes will hit home, and our secondary was playing well towards the end of the game outside of that amazing TD catch by Minne. Cut out or limit the untimely penalties, and we'll start to see payday. Coaches will learn, and players will learn. This might not be a bowl year but I'm more confident about Rhule and staff than I was during the offseason after this game.

I think we should just go full triple option this season.
An option offense would have given us a chance at a winning season. Too bad the coach that tried to install said option offense would be run out of town and all his players would transfer. And the NCAA would grant all the waviers. Sick relative? Family needs? Mental health issues? Fuck yourself. Your coach made you learn and play the option? That's just too much. Wavier granted young man and godspeed!

The only positive I'll take from this game is our defensive play. Only 2.2 yards per rush and 3.6 yards per play. That's pretty damn good against a run first offense.
I’d add special teams. Except for the first punt we didn’t field and let bounce to the 1, I thought ST was very good all night.

We broke a big KO return.
Kick coverage was great.
Alvano made his only kick.
Boomchini’s first punt, goodness.
Except for the first one, punts were fielded in traffic, made the first guy miss and went for positive (though small) gains.

As you said, the D held Minnesota to 55 yards rushing when so many were worried about our run D.

The offense… woof.

But D and ST were both better than expected, IMO.
