It is pretty funny that Mickey finally just said that the players suck. That is the translation I got from his "we have to recruit better" post game press conference quote. He's right. Our best players this year are Palmer and Casey. Is there even any upper classman that even stands out besides those two? Some young dudes look like they have potential like Hartzog, Butler and finally Hausmann, but that junior and senior class is a wasteland without Palmer and Casey.

It is absolutely hilarious that our best offense yesterday was when Chubba would be like "OOOOOHHHH SHHHHHIIIIITTTTT!!" and run for his life from a collapsing pocket for 6-10 yards. It was seriously our most successful play on a bunch of drives. Minnesota's back up QB comes in and wins. KSU's back up QB comes in and wins. Nebraska's back up should be the back up's back up. The guy can't even slide correctly. He hurt himself. So to review his contribution this year.....fumbles, INTs, winged duck passes, a safety if I remember correctly and now he hurts himself trying to slide. I think he must be the only QB in the history of QBs that has trouble getting laid.

I was getting quite a few laughs at the DB "room". In the past two off-seasons at Safety we have brought in Omar Brown, Tyreke Johnson, Javier Morton, DeShon Singleton, Kaine Williams and one other guy who already transferred out that I can't remember..............and when our starting safety goes down we revert back to Gifford who is our Nickle/OLB. Coach Fish used to get a lot of love but it is obvious he has been phoning it in this season.

I was just sitting there watching the game and laughing. But the truth is I am the joke for wasting my time following this team. Thanks, Scott. Once again, I hope the Golden Tee games were worth it.

What kills me is how little of depth we have at every position. Nebraska may not be a giant rebuild but Christ almighty it might take a couple of years before every back up isn’t a white guy from a Nebraska town of less than 2500 people

This will be the most difficult rebuild of any coaching turnover we've had. The roster is garbage. We are a 3 win team that had to rely on a few transfers to get us that far.

Next season is going to be tough so I'm hoping the new guy and our fanbase has some patience.

I think the patience is finally there for Nebraska fans after the calamity of Frost. What the hell, we haven’t made a bowl in how many years now, what’s another year or two?

If we recruited the exact same as we have the past 5 years but put them through competent S&C we’d be winning the west. That’s our big failure.
That's an exaggeration obviously. But truth in there.

There was the 2021 year where Scott and the entire team took the entire recruiting year off. It was funny, the 247 and Rivals guys would go on 1620 to do weekly 15-min recruiting segments and Bruntz/Schaefer would be like "yeah they're not recruiting this year/they're taking the year off." and the hosts would be like, "is that a good idea?" LOL

There's a reason we had to waste $650k of the boosters money on Mathis. Grovel for guys like Hunter Anthony, etc. You didn't see Wisconsin, MN, Cockeye, etc scrambling around to try to find OL/DL STARTERS in the portal. It was such a joke.

S&C a big issue. But good CFB staffs generally don't take entire HS recruiting years off.

We are bad on the o-line and d-line. The rest of the roster has talent.

If we hire the right coach I'm not as worried about lack of depth and competing in the B1G West because the West is pretty mediocre. With our NIL resources and the Transfer Portal we can restock pretty quickly, if the coach can recruit the right players for their systems. Skill players are there on Offense if we can keep them. O Line & D Line are not at the level we want. Linebackers and Defensive Backfield are a bit concerning but competent coaching and a couple ballers back there could make a big difference. If I'm a new coach I'm not keeping any of our Defensive position coaches as I feel they are underperforming. Terrible player development on the defense.

Let's face it under Frost & Friends we have had terrible player development, coaching, player retention and recruiting plus his S&C has basically turned players into lumbering oafs. Can we really give him credit during his time as our coach for doing anything well?

As a Wise Man and connected poster has repeatedly said since early on in the Frost era there is one known truth: "Coaching Matters"

One of my biggest issues with Frost for the past two or three years was the lack of recruiting. There were points Nebraska was last in big ten recruiting rankings. That's just simply unacceptable. You hear people talk about recruiting rankings, but you rarely hear people talk about offers. If you'd go back through the last two or three years of recruiting the commits Nebraska were getting rarely had relevant schools in those offers...and if they did generally they weren't committable offers. I think it was Kamonte Grimes who flat out said he committed because it was his only Power 5 offer that was committable. That doesn't even factor in the transfer problem SF had.

Are there multiple issues like lack of S&C? Development? Sure, when you're this bad....it ain't just one thing. But it starts with recruiting.

If you were a proponent of keeping Frost for the last few years you shouldn't be mad. You are getting exactly what you asked for...

We still usually out recruit all of the B1G West. We just don't develop them worth a shit. We also seem to get high 3 star, or 4 star guys who have a good ranking on ranking services, but many of them either have off the field question marks, or were still reaches despite their rankings for various reasons.

That being said, yes we do need to recruit better and identify talent better, but more than that, we need to develop better. We also need to better recruit on the O and D line - something that seems to have been forgotten how important that aspect of the game is. Both with coaching/scheme and in S&C, we need to improve - things we will be making changes at soon with a new coaching staff and likely new S&C staff. I know this is no set of unique things we need to improve upon, these are areas almost everyone sees we need to be improve in.

Disappointed is the right word. Disappointed he didn’t turn out to what I thought and hoped he’d be here. And I see it all now

I have the opposite reaction. The fanbase was patient with Frost, for 5 years.

If they don’t make a hire that turns it around quickly I’m done following. I’ve probably wasted a month of my life watching this team suck.

I throw everything out the first year. After that you better start seeing the improvement.

I wouldn't throw everything out for the first year (next season). Whoever the next HC will be, we will all be looking to see if there are areas of obvious improvement in coaching, scheme, development and S&C. Recruiting is hard in a transition year, unless it is a Whale coach we get, who would likely score immediate positive impact in recruiting.

I'd still want to see how (whoever is) the new coach is recruiting the 8 months of off season we have though. If it is not a Whale level coach, say instead Rhule, Aranda (still good coaches and nothing to turn our noses up at), we want to see their plan in action and what kinds and level of players they are going for. If it's a guy below the level of Rhule and Aranda, it will be interesting to see if any kind of excitement/energy is there for new recruits to get on board with.

I really meant record wise. I get what you’re saying. You would still like to see improvement throughout the year which makes sense.
