The Cleveland Indians are now the .................

I come from a long line of guardians. My great grandfather was a guardian, my grandfather was a guardian and my father was a guardian. this new name is horribly offensive to me and my people and i will protest this with a fervor that makes a rabid pit-bull look like a lap dog.

I'm kind of in the same boat TBH. They weren't thinking of how many people this would impact...SMH.

Progressives ruin everything.

There are going to be fans altering the "Guar" in the Guardians logo and replacing it with an "In". I can't wait for them to be called racists.

If I was an Indians fan, I'd be looking for another team. Guardians is just awful and the logo is an abomination. It pisses me off the Royals have to play this travesty 19 times.

How long before the Chiefs bend the knee?

I say < 2 years.

Honestly don't know why teams don't do it before any controversy.

HUGE cash grab, especially if the team is good (like the Chiefs are)

Most states do not allow Native American mascots unless they have tribal approval. You can be "arrows" or "the tribe" or other generic non-person mascots tho.

Total opposite in Kansas, when I first moved to Northwest Kansas I couldn't believe it. I swear to God every team is some sort of over the top caricature of a Native American.

PS: the worst by far is Decatur County Kansas, their mascot is "The Red Devils" and they are literally using that name to refer to Native Americans. I was like "what year is this?" Like if people think "Redskin" is offensive what would they think of this? Fun Fact: Oberlin KS is the site of the last Indian Raid in Kanas. The town almost got completely killed but the townsfolk rallied and also during the start of the raid a rider got out and delivered news of the attack to an Army cavalry unit based in McCook Nebraska. The unit took off South but was too late, they did eventually found the attackers a few days later....
