Team Vote for Bowl Game

Do you think? Watching him comment right after the Rutgers game my thoughts were he wants to be done. I think the vote was his way of pussying out.
I think a lot of coaches are warn down after this year and all of the shit and protocols they've had to go through. Not an excuse, just a reality of the matter. I've mentioned this before, but we've got a kid on a P5 roster and their team was slated to play in a bowl, went to practice on a Monday, and it was announced they were going to now decline. They had a few dudes opt out/declare for the draft, had some Covid Issues where they would have been crazy thin at few positions. But the player said the coaches almost seemed relieved for the year to be over. That was his perception. Now, they didn't take it to a player vote, it was a coaches' descision.

Lot of good teams with a lot of good coaches opting out. Seems more indicative of a fucky year than Frost being uniquely unqualified.

To state the obvious.... As the head coach you either make the decision for the team or you let them decide.

Majority wants to play it really doesn't matter who decides.
Majority doesn't want to play then it still doesn't really matter who decides.

1st scenario you're playing and everyone is invested making it productive.

2nd scenario coach decides to play and you've got the majority not giving a shit. Some would argue coach is the boss and that's how you show authority and make them practice and get on them when they lose focus and practice shitty. Only the pussies don't practice hard and play hard in the game.

Or you let the players vote and you don't have a game.

Either one of the last two scenarios and the time isn't productive. 3-5 goes to 3-6 and you accomplish the same amount playing or not playing. Nothing.

Letting the players decide you at least learn something about who is in which court.

Personally I probably take a vote telling them that I'll take the vote into consideration but at the end of the day I'm deciding.

Why in the hell did the players have any say in that? LOL Frost has zero control of this program.
I think he just doesn't have any natural leadership skills. He struggles to understand the psychology needed to pull together and run a team. Great leaders bring people together and motivate them.

This resonates...at first blush I was pretty disappointed with the decision...and the more I let it soak in, really made a lot more sense.

This year has truly been a shit grind that most are ready to let go.
