I haven't done my 2020 taxes yet. Think I'll have time to file yet today or should I file for an extension? Is it too late to file for an extension? Had a kid, bought a house, and bought a new vehicle in 2020. TIA nerds

I filed mine using FreeTaxUSA while filling out my wife's two Schedule Cs in about 3 hours, but I've also done it for 4 or 5 years now through them so most of my shit is saved....and I got it done in February. If you don't have anything complicated, it's pretty easy. My wife's two businesses have a shit ton of crap to write off, but kind of have it down to a science now.

I filed mine last night. Just about as straightforward as you can get. I'd say allocate 3 to 5 hours.... Maybe 2 hours if you take a standard deduction.

Im in a similar boat here. I may be paying too much though as I use H&R Block and it always seems to cost me $250-300 or so.

Last time we had some place do our taxes we paid $300 and felt like they did a dick job writing off all of our shit. So I said fûck’em. I’ll do it myself

how tf do you not have your taxes done yet?

I could give you a laundry list of excuses but it boils down to procrastination and being nagged by my old lady, which makes me procrastinate even harder. Where can I go to file for an extension? I tried googling but everything that came up looked all sorts of sketchy.

I use them every year.

Thankfully I work in enough different states that my employer pays EY to do mine each year. Always end up owing around $7k though so I delay filing until the deadline.
