Sky is not falling

I wrote this elsewhere but sums up my feelings…

It’s very frustrating but progression isn’t linear. If we can’t beat Northwestern then there is a legit argument there hasn’t been progression. And then we’ve got other problems. But we’ve seen this team do things they couldn’t or wouldn’t do in past years. So, fresh off a loss is the wrong time to be making sweeping statements (not directed at you necessarily, just using your post as a mini platform) about what this program can and will be. Therefore, what investments are worth making into the program.

Our program was broken. No leadership, no accountability, and no confidence. That’s not something talent fixes. Rhule could have taken the Prime or Cig approach of “all you losers GTFO” but that wasn’t the culture he wanted to establish. He didn’t tear down the house and fix the foundation. He just gutted it down to the studs. IDK, shotty analogy maybe, but we’ve still got some foundational issues that perhaps the 6th and 7th year players need to leave.

What sucks is getting our asses whooped. I was hoping we were over those days of no showing against a mediocre conference opponent. That’s concerning in many ways and we need to see a 180 next week so it doesn’t fester and reestablish itself as our culture.

Based upon what model? Please post which forecast has losing out as the likeliest probability.

What is most concerning to me is we looked exactly like a team with no leadership or confidence last night when we should have had plenty of both going for us after the win vs Maryland. Instead they looked like they'd have rather been doing just about anything else besides playing a game of football. We caved where all season we've buckled down and elevated. Wonder what has changed....

I really think the Rhule to Penn st. rumors played a small role yesterday. I don’t think we panic after yesterday.

Now if we lost to NW at home next week, then I’ll be hitting the panic button on the season. With how everything has played out 9-3/8-4 is very much alive. That’s what most people called for anyway.

Fortunately Northwestern doesn’t have any experience going on the road and putting their boot on the throat of a once-proud program that the week before just suffered an inexplicable and devastating loss to a lesser team.

Next week will tell you everything you need to know about the culture and progress, bounce back and play well or wither and lose.
I'm confident we will beat Northwestern handily. Beyond that, it's very uncertain.

The futility of the game plan at Minnesota may only be eclipsed by the futility of the game plan at Indiana last year where we dropped back on like 11 of the first 13 plays. Run the Damn Ball to slow down a pass rush... it's not that difficult. It is criminal how they wasted a clearly motivated EJ last night.

Coach, learn your lesson.

I’m confident Rhule can’t really beat any big 10 teams comfortably.

I completely agree with this. Holgs layed an egg last night too.

The sky isn’t falling. It’s very much a feeling of I don’t give a shit, today, about this program. We get what we got all week long, all the talk from Rhule, all of it. All the talk the last few weeks. Yada yada. I’ve been 255 lbs in a pickup football game in the trenches with my buddy who was 270 at the time and had better play by play battles than what we showed last night. Minnesota blows against anyone else with a legit pulse. Fuck that. Pathetic program when it counts.

This past week from Maryland to last night was the full Husker experience.
