Sho Yer Sack: WAY too early '25 Season Prediction Thread

I see a lot of people chalking up USC as an automatic L. I don't get it. They were TERRIBLE on the road last year...lost to Maryland for Chrissakes. They lost 3-4 best skill position players to the portal. By time we play them, Lincoln Riley could be a dead man walking. I actually think it will be one of our easier games in the back-half of the schedule.

FWIW, I think we go 9-3. Losses to Minnesota, UCLA, and Pedo State. The MSU games scares me more than Michigan.
I agree, picked USC as a loss. Simple reason, I don't see us winning 10, so I had to get a loss in their somewhere. I think UCLA will be a mess, I think Iamaleava is going to really screw them up.

I think most of us are in the same boat, 9 wins, a loss to Penn State and two others. Now who those two others are is a big uncertainty. Maybe Minnesota and/or UCLA as they are away games, just don't see it being Maryland as I think they will be pretty bad.

Honestly we have a pretty favorable schedule. This would be a good season to win 10 or 11, if Rhule is who we hope he is.

I think your memory and reality are in two different places.
Or maybe our perceptions are different since I have zero data.

But, I do have a memory that when we struggle against the non-conference, it shows itself when we start conference play. Typically many of the same issues.

There is something else important to note about that USC game. The Trojans play at Illinois, host Michigan, and play at Notre Dame in the 3 games before playing in Lincoln.

If USC is 4-3 on their way to Nebraska, you might be absolutely correct about Lincoln Riley.

I predicted 4-8 in 2023. They went 5-7.
I predicted 5-7 in 2024. They went 7-6

I think they go 8-4 this season, show improvement in a few areas and Husker message boards will lose their God Damn minds as Huskers drop their final three games after reaching #10 in the AP Poll.

Cincinnati - W
Akron- W
Houston Christian - W
Michigan - L
Michigan State - W
@ Maryland - W
@ Minnesota - W
Northwestern - W
USC - W
@ UCLA- L
@ Penn State - L
Cockeye - L

Two games I'm least sure about:

Michigan State and Cockeye. -The Spartans are a complete unknown. I like their coach enough to believe they will be a much better team in year two. However, they had enough offensive calamities last season to suggest they still have a ways to go. Cockeye is better than Nebraska until Nebraska proves they can compete on special teams. I will gladly amend my record if by mid season it looks like the Huskers can win games via the field goal.

Part of me wonders if I'm stupid about saying Nebraska will win in Minnesota, something they haven't done in more than 10 years. But I can't get past the fact that Minnesota is the only Big Ten team without a decision about their QB coming out of the Spring. They think they know WHO will start, but nobody has grabbed the job, and they had arguably the worst QB transfer portal grab in all of the Power 4. I feel like Minnesota will need good QB play to beat Nebraska for the first time in nearly a decade.

I respect the hell out of the Gophers, but I don't believe they can just line up and run the ball at Nebraska 40+ times and win this one 13-10 because Nebraska can't punt, kick field goals, or stop anyone in the return game.

The UCLA game will have a lot to do with how UCLA starts their season. The Nico drama is going to grant them a LOT more publicity and visibility than they imagined. The Bruins start with a home game vs. Utah and a road game at UNLV. Two weeks later, they travel to a very sneaky spot at Northwestern followed by a home game vs. Penn State and a road trip to Michigan State.

I can see a scenario where the Bruins are 4-0 going into the Penn State home game. Or, I can see a nightmare scenario where UCLA is 1-3 going into that Penn State game. They will lose to PSU regardless. If they are 1-4 heading to Michigan State, the mother effing wheels could fall off. With a trip to Indiana before the Nebraska game, UCLA could be buried at 2-6 before the Huskers even show up in LA. I would like Nebraska's chances to get a win there amidst all that "Nico Noise." Because I guarantee the CFB World will have a bullseye on UCLA now.

If we lose to BJ Fuck for the 8th time in 9 years I'm going Seppuku with @Jim14510 as my 2nd to finish me off.

Also, I realize UCLA is at home but I'm not seeing it either. I wasn't impressed with Nico at Tenn. Just because he demanded $4mil doesn't make him a $4mil talent. I thought he was kinda shitty at Tenn with much more talent around him than he'll have at UCLA.

I like that we have Ole Mich at home with hopefully a frosh starting in front of a Colorado 2024-like crowd.

I like that we have USC at home coming off a murderous stretch. I like having sparty at home.

I think MD is a disaster in the works. Same for NW.

And we better GD fucking well beat those faggits to the immediate east so help me.

Maryland would be such a disaster that it almost seems inevitable. I am dead serious when I suggest they are staring at another 1-8 type season and its likely that their one win will be over a Nebraska team that commits 12 penalties, misses 2 field goals, allows a punt return TD, and commits 4 turnovers.

All in front of 20,000 Nebraska fans and 7,000 people rooting for Maryland.
