IMO it’s always ok to get blackout drunk, the amount of preparation and frequency of doing so changes.

In my 20s if I got blackout drunk 3 times in the same week it was a badge of honor. If I did it now it’s a problem.

In my 20s if I got blackout drunk and woke up in some random party house next to a chick with a nose ring and a neck tattoo it was a great story. If that happened now my wife would be annoyed.

If we're talking truly blackout drunk with no recollection of anything, probably not more than a couple times per year after 25. Have some friends that still do it frequently and it's concerning.
