I didn't realize that's what happened. Can we confirm that Thompson said this?

Apparently Schiano did this in the NFL & he's a hated douche bc of it. I was wondering how on earth our guys could f up a victory formation snap. If that fumble was recovered, there would not have been video evidence to overturn it. And Rutgers would have hit the FG to win the game.

That was f-in close to being a loss on that last play. Schiano a major a-hole for that. Teams need to just shotgun the victory formation vs Rutgers (if it's close).

I mean, is it illegal to do that? If it’s a legal play then he’s smart. Go shotgun.

No it's VERY VERY ILLEGAL. That's the point. You cannot slap the ball out of the centers hands in the center to QB exchange. If that was legal, teams would do it every play.

What Schiano did was the equivalent of walking up to a free throw shooter and blocking his shot. It's so blatantly illegal it'd funny. The reason Schiano does it is the hope that it is so crowded in there that the refs can't see the infraction. I think he would have gotten away with it too, because the replay obscures it.

But yeah, slapping the ball out of the center's hands is 100000% illegal. You may as well walk up to the place kicker at opening kickoff, grab the football and run it in for a TD. Those plays have identical levels of legality lol.

The most hated BIG coach is PJ Fleck. Shiano is the new number one, followed by Fleck.

Interesting. What happens then if the center snaps it, the QBs hand touches the ball and then it drops? What's the cutoff for when it's fair play for the defense to touch. Like, if the center snaps it and just holds it under his ass...how much time has to pass before it's in play?

I don't think it's fair game until the qb has it. Definitely an @alt f4 question though.

The QB is supposed to be allowed to secure the snap before the DT/NG can touch the ball. But depending on the situation it can definitely be a gray area.... which is why the Schiano play is not acceptable.

I think if a team decided to try this the refs would just call neutral zone infractions every time. It kind of works in the victory formation because there's like 22 players in about a 4 yrd area and it obscures the red's views.

I guess if it's the end of the game, then what does Rutgers have to lose? I mean what are the refs gonna do, impose a 5-yard penalty on them?

Still a douchey move, of course.
