Personally, I think it was a huge gamble. From being committed to tOSU which regularly hits Big Ten championships to Georgia which regularly competes for National Championships to Nebraska that was on the verge of national irrelevancy. I agree, was 100% not going to be a starter at either of those locations but within a year or two, you're starting at a program that, at the time, was lightyears ahead of Nebraska. Nothing in Rhule's first year would have made me think we're where we are at now.
For the record, I am very happy with us picking up Dylan and think he has done a pretty good job on field and a really great job off field helping create an awesome culture within the football program. I would be sad to see him go but if he does, best of luck to him.
But, at that time and place, it was a huge gamble picking an unproven team Nebraska team over Georgia or tOSU. With taking a risk that big, need to get compensated for it and in todays college football era, that mean cash money.
