Breaking Rhule has signed extension

Even though there's no no-strings base increase, I wouldn't say it's entirely no cost to Nebraska. If things go tits up it's gonna cost us more to bail out. But if we end up having to make that decision it's probably not until at least the end of next year, so the additional 2 years doesn't hurt too bad I guess. IMO the 5->15 mil buyout is more symbolic than anything, I don't think an additional 10 mil is gonna move the needle for a big time program that is dead set on him. Love the incentive stuff though.

Maybe not quite to that extent but I think Penn State will regret firing Franklin and I think Rhule will do well enough here in the interim to be at or near the top of their list when the next guy fails.
Agree on franklin. Not sure on Rhule. I like him and I think he says the right things. But this team needs a lot of work in the trenches and if that doesn't get fixed we are going to be a 7-8 win team at best.

Pretty sure he doesn't know this. And yes, I'm joking.

He's the one coach we've had that gives a damn. He'll get it fixed but probably not as I or anyone else would like it to be fixed.

I will say this about Rhule. I think he’s the only coach since Pelini that wants to win and be successful at Nebraska and probably wants it’s more than Pelini did.

The guy works his ass off and Nebraska needs to reward a coach like that

Its just easy to get jealous of the quick instant success stories like Cignetti at Indiana.

The reality is while it would have been awesome to find that, 9/10 successful programs are done over years of developing, doing things the right way and incrementally making adjustments to strategy and coaching until you find the formula that works.

I absolutely wish we were further along in year 3 than we are, but i've also watched us suck for long enough now I'm not going to be impatient and shit on indisputable year over year improvements.

Why haven’t you given to NIL?

Doesn’t he have a lot of his money going to usaid and the soros foundation?

Yup - blowing Dick Cabela’s money on stupid shit

Might as well just be a jaysker. What an awful rich boomer NU fan. Pathetic.

The only way this would bite Nebraska in the ass is if Rhule was fired before year 5. Otherwise it's the cost of doing business. If Rhule was fired in year 6, the liability is standard in the B1G.

They could be in a position of needing a rebuild. Would be a shame if the new hire fails miserably like #2ndChoice at Wisconsin.

How would you want it fixed? I just want us to win the games we should, and be competitive against everyone we play. I want our players to play hard and be physical. The wins will come if that becomes our identity. The reason our ST's have made dramatic progress is a result of the simple formula I mentioned above. That's what Ekler demands and gets out of those players. The rest of the program needs to follow suit.

That's what I believe Rhule hasn't capitalized on at this point. Im hoping that it will change. Watch Indiana if you want a prime example of that type of grit.

This place isn't nearly as bad as RSS with naysayers but just copy/pasting what I just posted there:

Man, some Husker fans are so freaking scared of their own shadow. Other than winning the lottery like Indiana, this is about as best-case-scenario as you can get when you're trying to build a longterm foundation to climb out of the gutter in the modern football world. We're 6-2, we've already hit a milestone we haven't seen in 10 years, our coach accepted an extension with incentives to win rather than an increased annual salary, and apparently some major reassurances behind the scenes to scale things up with NIL/program resources. Get over yourselves and try to enjoy the ride instead of dreading things that haven't even happened yet!

Don’t know about that but here are the stories.
