In the past 3 days HCM(MF’n)R has tweeted support of Nebraska’s Football, Softball, WBB, MBB, Wrestling, and the Lincoln Football Coaches clinic.

He has launched teams of football players that are actively calling for support of activities all across campus.

I love that uniting the entire campus and fan base around the entirety of the University is so important to him.

I think this is what Frost wanted to do right? Except he thought everyone would just do it for him when he said it.

Rhule actually understands that in order to create a culture of cohesion and unity you must practice cohesion and unity, not just say the words.

It's different this time
For real??? In that case…

It's pretty impressive for guy that has a schedule like I'm sure he does to take the time and go and support as many other teams as he can. I think he has been to pretty much every on-campus event since he got there.

It's pretty crazy to see an "outsider" embrace everything that Nebraska has to offer when you would have thought it would be something that would have come to the native son naturally.

Absolutely.

This isn’t shit that you can fake it till you make it. Sure it gets you in good graces…but these small things are what we’ve lacked for so long.

If a rising tide lifts all boats, Rhule’s erect cob will be bringing multiple sports national championships. Hopefully one of those is football.

This is sort of ironic considering how things went down later, but this aspect of Rhule actually reminds me of Bo when he first got here.

I was a student at UNL at the time, and I remember how cool it was suddenly seeing Bo and other coaches out and about on campus, sitting with football players in the stands at bball games, eating together in the dining halls, etc. I loved that shit, that's what college football should be like in my opinion. The more it becomes a gigantic business the less personal the connection feels. Rhule has that instinct down perfectly.

You were guaranteed to find Bo at old navy when they were having a sale on cargo shorts.

I've seen videos of media members and heard radio personalities talk about it...hell I've even said it and many of you have too. Rhule is pushing all the right buttons, saying all the right things, doing all the right things, acting like he should...etc.

Are we just waiting for him to do the wrong thing??? What if he does something "wrong"? are we all going to pounce on it and be like...SEE, told ya he wasn't the guy!!! I feel like we, as a fan base, have been disappointed by our past that we are just waiting for that shoe to drop so the "I told ya so" bunch can start squawking about, He's no good for the program, I knew it was too good to be true.

What will it take for that to happen??? I hope we never find out!!!

I know Rhule is going to disappoint at some things, I want to be pleasantly surprised by how he does handle the boo birds if/when it happens.

Not trying to be a negative Norman but...I also know Nebraska media, radio, and fans.

Oh, there a people ready to pounce....they are just biding their time until Rhule does something that is perceived as the "wrong way." Whether it be the first loss or passing on a local recruit.

Hell, I think Sipple could be one to pounce...he has already dug his heels in that Rhule doesn't have a "rebuild" on his hands.

Hmm, maybe... But part of "finally having an adult in charge" is trusting that when he inevitably makes mistakes, he will handle it well.

When Callahan made mistakes, his attitude was "you're silly morons and this is too complicated for you to understand," when Bo made mistakes he went ballistic and blamed the universe, when Riley made mistakes he said "gee whillikers, at least we had fun," and when Frost made mistakes he ignored reality and acted like he had all the answers while his brain crumbled under the pressure.

With Rhule, I've already seen and heard PLENTY from him to know that he is comfortable enough in his own skin to own up to any mistakes, and turn them into teachable moments. I think he's a very rare type of coach who is going to come across as a true leader, not just to the players but to the fans. We haven't had someone like that in a loooooooong time.

Nah - I always see it like this...Doing things the right way consistently, and building a respectable reputation just buys you more times of doing things differently or wrong or downturns.

Everyone does things others don't like or approve of...the difference is, do you have the social capital that allows others to give you the benefit. It's how Frost made it 5 years - and he never actively worked to gain any benefit of the doubt, he just existed. Rhule will have to work harder for it, but it will mean more and go farther the way he's doing things.
