Remaining 4 Games

Hopefully the bye week will help! Omg I doubt it! Adrian needs to complete passes if we want to win any of the last few games. Seen plenty of other qb's do this with a shitty oline. Play calling can't be dog shit also! We blow out Purdue and take Ohio st down to the wire would be my guess. We need Ryan Held to play the best running backs if you ask me. He sucks as a coach

I can indeed. Jim and several other heathen posters wanted disgusting things like "pussy pack" and "vag hound" in their signature(?) lines. So naturally I requested one that reflects my personal relationship with our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Jim however added the lewd front end which I leave for him as a reminder of his sins
Jim is the best

I pray for myself every day.

Let's say Frost gets 5 wins and is retained. So be it. My biggest worry is that is who NU will become and most fans will be ok with it b/c it's a NU guy running the show.

I am not ready to tune into Husker Football every fall and watch a 6 or 7 win team compete. I am good with down years where NU only wins 6-7, but I am not ready to make that the norm.

NU is one of the historically best programs ever. Why are they not acting like it? The more the undisciplined, penalty-prone, mismanaged play is continued to occur, the closer NU becomes to that being the norm and accepting that is just who NU is going to be.

That scares the shit out of me. No other team with NU's history would ever let their team transpire to this. I am afraid that is exactly what is happening to NU right now.

I hope I am wrong.

It's kind of ironic that our descent into "average' basically started when we moved to the Big 10. My entire adult life has essentially been average NU football. I don't even know how that elite standard can be held anymore other than just lip service. I wish that wasn't the case because I grew up with a different mindset of it that was beat into my head as a kid.

I’m fine with giving Frost another year if Turd can’t find a qualified replacement, but I don’t understand why his supporters think we’ll be any better. There’s no viable replacement at QB on the roster and the majority of our defense will be gone.

Sure there’s the transfer portal, but that works both ways and I don’t see us adding significantly more than we lose.

Man, I hear you. My 12-year-old son has no idea what it is like to tune into a NU game with high stakes. He watches them on Youtube and wonders what happened.

I am worried that NU will just quit trying to be great and accept that this is just who they are. For some reason, many fans have an inferior complex and have already accepted that if NU even tried to hire a new coach, the new coach will end up being worse than Mike Riley.

I personally think it's a number of things that have been washed, rinsed, and repeated for the last 15 years but it seems that no one wants to fully accept it.

Fans have expectations. Former players have expectations. Admin has expectations. We all know everyone wants to win and has expectations. It's dumb to think other wise. The issue in my mind is that expectations don't really meet reality. We're not elite. We don't attract elite recruits. We don't have the respect we once did. Fans can hold things to any standard they want, but that doesn't create wins on Saturdays. Coaching and players do that. Bluntly honest, my expectations are 2001 Nebraska. Does that mean anything in reality? Absolutely not. I hate the spread. Does that mean squat? Nope.

Do I think an elite coach that is proven at the Power 5 level and already wins at this level would want to come here and give this a shot and possibly fail? Nope, sure don't. Because as soon as there is struggle, and the media start bashing. Does that happen everywhere else? yep. The difference is those better options can recruit the talent to fix that quickly. Those elite fixes aren't coming to Lincoln. They haven't since Callahan.

It's not that I'm okay with mediocrity, it's jus that I don't know any different in my adult life. But I still show up every Saturday so no worries there.

Nebraska is a Top 20 job.

As we have seen, Frost is near the bottom of P5 coaches, probably ranked around in the 70-80s of all D1 coaches based off the past 4 years.

There are 40-50 better coaches than Frost that would jump at the opportunity to coach at Nebraska

He created the QB and roster issues. His recruiting class so far shows that he won't be making roster improvements.

The transfer portal....are the odds better we get top transfers coming to Nebraska with a new coach or with Frost hanging on by a thread?

We are probably going to lose some players to the portal if Frost is retained anyways, so I feel like the departures would be a wash either way.

This is the best time to cut our losses.

If Frost is retained by going 2-2 down the stretch, I know I will still be thoroughly disappointed in the season.
Almost every person's preseason expectations have been drastically modified down for all 4 years of his time as head coach. Nobody can convince me that anyone inside the program has had their expectations met by this staff, and that's really fucking sad. Nobody is holding him to the same standards as any of his predecessors. Granted, things are different, and that is a consideration, but people are taking it to an extreme with Frost in comparison to the other coaches before him.

For some reason people talked themselves into Frost needs 5-7 seasons no matter what when he was hired and they still want to stick to that. The problem is no one thought he would be this bad. That changes things but a lot of people can’t wrap their head around it.

I agree people came to this conclusion but I cannot understand how a coach could even theoretically need 7 years. The entire team turns over in no more than 5 years (and realistically a lot sooner - how many Riley guys are even left at this point?). If someone can’t figure it out during the initial wave of excitement over their hire when they can sell the future…. Man I don’t see how it comes together

I agree. I think people thought it might take 7 years to where the over used word culture was completely in place and we were the favorite to win the division on a yearly basis and and contending for championships. I think most people thought we would have 8-9 win seasons for sure by now.

I think theoretically the idea was that in 5-7 years Nebraska would be "back" to regularly competing for titles. And I think it makes sense to expect it to take about that long to do it. First 2 or so go build a foundation and then yearly upgrades to talent and/or staff to get to "elite-ish".

The idea that anyone expected it to take 5-7 years for him to have a winner season is a preposterous rationalization for how fucking bad hes been
