Recruiting: Last in rankings; Last in star-average in the BIG

That would appear to be true. But there are a lot of smart coaches all over the country that also understand the numbers distribution and the dynamics at play...and are taking full classes.
I think most teams rolled their guys forward. I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of a single other team that paused everyone from the COVID year. Staff also seems to be aggressively recruiting for the 2023 and 2024 classes. I would guess that a combination of limited evals+less than optimal recruiting time w/ the 2022 class and the limited space means where we're at.

I think we had over 100+ visitors for our 2 night games

It also doesn’t take a expert to figure out they’ve consistently missed on their top targets.

If you look at offers, basically if Nebraska is going up against any school that has any relevance they’ve lost that battle this cycle.

2.89 rivals average star ranking so far…

It isn’t like it’s early in the process either. Not hard to figure out if you’re being honest with yourself.

I think that' bit of a generalization. Illinois, who's really fuckin' bad but also beat us, has 22 super seniors. I would say keeping guys around vs. "rolling them forward" as you would say, indicates there's not a lot of upper-classman talent in the program, because they obviously aren't coveted by the NFL.

Nebraska is holding room for players from the Portal and some JUCO spots. There are hundreds of JUCO players who basically missed 18 months of evaluation. That's not to say they've missed out on some dudes they wanted because they absolutely did.

But Nebraska feels confident on at least 14 to 15 starters returning for next season. When the schedule component is added, the Huskers are thinking about the immediate, and not overly concerned about 3 to 4 years from now.

Nebraska is going to go after some big portal fish, especially along the offensive line, pass rushers, and will be big players for any high level skill players who are looking to transfer.

And let's not forget that Nebraska will go into the 2022 season with 72 scholarship players who have 3 or more years remaining of eligibility.

Right now there are 35 scholarship players that are still considered Freshman, 14 Redshirt Freshman, and 11 Sophomores. I agree with the OP though if you can only take a small class you better make everyone count.

Difference between super seniors and Fr-Sr. I don't think many programs did a universal pause from what I've seen.

What will be telling is these bye weeks coming up. Coaches will be on the road.

I mean, do you think that's entirely lost on Frost and his staff? You guys are acting like they're just mailing it in and are completely indifferent about their futures or the future of the program. Something's gotta give somewhere. I don't think they've even come out and said how many total players can be on scholarship going into '22, just the total number of new players you can add based on kids transferring out.

Cockeye just recruits shitty 2 star guys and they're ranked 2 in the nation so whatever
