Rumor Raiola switching high schools

If he wasn't a 5-star QB who's dad went to Nebraska...would we be more worried about the red flags?

How many times have we seen on the message board that a kid that decommits is wishy washy and will end up transferring anyways? This kid has decommitted from a school and is also on his 3rd high school in 3 years.

I'm not saying he's a bad kid, I'm not saying Nebraska shouldn't recruit him..of course they should.

But what's going on with him? Why is he transferring schools so much?
Did his brother transfer as well?

I’m wondering if this is a case of letting his brother hopefully get some reps at Chandler while he’s at Pinnacle. Plus I believe Pinnacle has put 3 D1 QBs out there recently

I'm not familiar with Arizona high school eligibility rules but I doubt they'd let a family do that.

As for Pinnacle having d1 qb's in the past. What does Raiola care? He's already a 5 Star+ QB recruit. It's not like it's going to raise his profile.

I get the point, but I don't think it applies that much here.

He decommitted from his second choice school after his first choice school made changes to address what stopped him from committing originally. I haven't seen an interview yet where he comes across as entitled, wishy-washy, or demanding the spotlight.

His change in schools from sophomore to junior seasons in HS was when his family moved from Texas to Arizona, so hard to call that a red flag. If he commits to Nebraska, I would have a pretty reasonable level of confidence that he'd play his college career here.

There are plenty of red flags.

One huge one that I see is that they (as in him and his family) absolutely love the recruiting process, obviously. He has literally been everywhere multiple times. So many campus visits, camps, national championship game, Hawaii. I don't think he has spent 2 consecutive weekends home in the off-season for the last two years. And I bet it's because they love having the red carpet rolled out everywhere they go. Everyone treating him like he is the chosen one.

And that all is gonna stop after he signs, but will he crave that attention again when there are no more visits and his life goes from dinners and gladhanding to film study and playbooks?

What happens when the spotlight turns critical instead? The portal offers him the opportunity to turn that "you're so special" machine back on again.

Lots of guys do it in basketball to just to try shit out (lots more do it for that Nike/adidas under the table money, but that's beside the point)

The toughest part of the decision for DYLan was probably him coming to terms with not being able to get Elmer's Tacos for lunch anymore...I would be devastated.

Still having this same take?

I apologize if this comes off rude but this is a completely terrible take. He has visited multiple schools multiple times in order to determine where he best fits. Plenty of guys do this every year if they are financially well off as a family. I would love your itinerary where he hasnt spent two weekends away from a college campus in the off season the last 24 months. You appear to think he became a 5 star + QB by not doing film study or knowing an offense which I find comical. You dont think literally EVERY highly ranked QB goes from spotlight to critical? All these highly ranked players are big fish in small ponds in HS. That's how this works. Also, If you knew anything about the Raiolas you would know how terrible your take is and by terrible I mean literally God awful in regards to you questioning work ethic etc. This kid spends more time each week working on his craft than you do at yours. You think his dad is going to let him lolly gag and not put in the work? He knows first hand what it takes to be a pro, you dont think his family has instilled those same values into him? (inside secret: they have)

I have always sided with players when it comes to taking multiple visits. And I think we can all acknowledge that we have never had to make a decision like a high ranked recruit has to make with social media bearing down on them.

But if this kid wasn't a Nebraska legacy. If he wasn't considering Nebraska at all. There would absolutely be message boarders on here talking about all the red flags of a kid who has transferred high schools 3 times and decommitted from a school already.

I hope he lands at Nebraska. I'm glad his family is letting him make an informed decision. But let's be real that people on this message board wouldn't be so quick to defend his very public recruitment if he wasn't considering Nebraska and his dad wasn't a Nebraska Hall of Famer. They'd be calling him an attention whore. They'd criticize him for shopping for the highest bidder and for leading teams along.

Personally, I think it's good for a kid to do exactly what he's doing. And if I were him, I wouldn't sign a letter of intent next December. I'd hold out for more money until next February.

20 other players are leaving Chandler as well...his family moved the first time he transferred from Texas to Arizona. I think context matters in situations.
