I posted this in another thread, but maybe it's a worthy discussion on its own.
QB recruiting has to change, I think (and this is a shift in thought for me). I'll start by saying that I don't think it's sustainable to bring in 20+ transfers every year and practically fill an entire roster, I think you still need to build a solid base from HS ranks...but I do believe firmly that you should be filling in recruiting gaps with the portal.
However, I'm coming around to the idea that while you recruit HS QB's and develop them, you don't PAY them big money (unless they're bigtime and will contribute right away). Instead you pay transfers if your QB doesn't develop.
It does not seem like they are good long term investments....
This is super interesting (and shouldn't be a huge surprise to anyone):
2023 class: 7 out of the top 8 QB's transferred
2024 class (Dylan): 7 out of the top 9 QB's transferred
You have 14 out of the 17 top HS QB recruits transferring within 2 years. Pretty nuts.
I don't buy the "you don't recruit HS QB's anymore" but I will say unless you think he's a day 1 starter, you don't pay HS QB's anymore.

And for those who say, "See, I told you Dylan would transfer". Well yeah, that's just what you have to expect QBs to do now (unless they somehow are able to bring in contracts).
So if I'm running a college program, I'll throw some money at the very top 2-3 guys maybe...but after that I'll recruit some guys I think can develop and then just hire a new QB every year I don't have a dude behind center.
