New Commit Pritchett is N

This is what I have a hard time getting around. He started every game for Bama. If he was shitty, certainly they have enough depth to have replaced him with another equal or more talented player. They didn't.
he didn't start game 2. He got beat out by Wilkin Formby for RT over the summer but got the start in game 1 at LT when Proctor was hurt. Game 2 Proctor was still hurt but they sent Pritchett to the bench and moved an OG to LT. Formby played poorly in game 2 and Pritchett got the start in game 3, but by late season Formby and Pritchett were pretty much splitting time. Formby is a year younger than Pritchett and supposedly threatened to portal if he wasn't starting RT for next year.

At worst he is a big strong young kid. Young offensive lineman rarely kill it. He will improve over time. He has a frame and athleticism we haven’t had in a while.
Bingo. This kid has the potential to be a stud. How many times have we said on this board that an OL man doesn’t come into his own until his Jr. or Sr. year? Now we have a guy who’ll be a Jr. but has also had extensive experience in a top conference.

Ask yourself, do you want Pritchett or Corcoran starting?

The answer is Pritchett 10 times out of 10.
Seems like a case of the grasss being greener elewhere. We've watched Corcoran be a turnstlye weekly for Nebraska so we assume the new guy can't be that bad. New guy was also a turnstyle, but we didn't have to watch it every week, so our persepective is skewed.

That said, I am one of those elusive people who are in the middle on this move.
Yeah, "He was a full-time starter for Alabama!" But he was bad in those starts for Alabama. He was their Turner Corcoran. There's a reason he's looking for a new school.

On the other hand, he has two years left. We know OL tend to improve as they get older and sometimes being forced to play too early exposes a player. If we never saw Ben Benhardt play as a freshman or sophomore, we'd think he had an outstanding career. Maybe the same is true for this guy. Power 4 experince, which this guy has, is valuable and hopefully helps him develop.

Vandy 247 publisher posted a little while ago that Vandy is likely out of the race for Pete because Nebraska is making him a huge seven figure offer. Said the typical comp range for a SEC LT is 700K to 1.2M and Nebraska is going to top that. Said he has been told by 3 sources that Nebraska plans to take two starting tackles from the portal. Said LSU and Florida want him, too.

This also tells me that we are not happy with the depth there. Teddy P and Corc can move to coaching.

We improved today. On to tomorrow.
Corc has been catching too much hate lately IMO. He looked much improved at the start of the year before getting hurt. Not unreasonable to think that he could take a Benhart type step. Like others have said...it is so hard to be a great, young OL in the power conferences.

I'm fine with Corc, but also love this addition.

If we end up with Pete as well, plus Corc and Teddy back, then we will have something that we haven’t had in a long time: OL DEPTH.

I’m not as concerned with the secondary unit as much as the DL unit.
I like where we are on the DL right now. I don't think the game changing 3 tech is going to be found in the portal. I expect each of the starters to be over 400 snaps, with Davis, George, and Nwaneri over 200. And I think I'm good with that.

Yeah yeah yeah I remember the “NIL menu” rumor that was on here last year, that we ended up getting a whopping 0 players off of.
